Why? Seriously, what is the benefit of diversity for diversity's sake? What does it give us? I'm all for diversity of ideas, but why is diversity of skin color or ethnicity a good thing? Especially when diversity trumps other qualifying characteristics, such as in the case of your friend's daughter.

she probably gave a wholly underwhelming performance on the interview, letters of rec, and personal statement if she truly had a near 4.0 double major with significantly better MCAT than peers.

The AMI is one of THE most WOKE entity out there and it's getting worse. It is big on the whole "pronouns" crap & it's safe to assume the trans world will be making its entrance into the diversity issue sooner rather than later.

Throw a dart at a list medical schools and you will find that black people are underrepresented in those classes.
Asians kids are out hustling us.
But I’ll use Baylor as an example, since I find It unlikely the OPs friends daughter didn’t apply
As of last year they were 41% white 41% Asian 4% black 13% Latino and 1% claiming other.
Plenty of white people getting in.

Not disagreeing that it is a thing but my son with good grades but not the best and an average MCAT score(for acceptance) was accepted to two DO programs and just started at VCOM in Monroe. We are white. Hopefully she gets in at some point. With those accomplishments she should.

Is the girl an Alabama resident? Much harder to try to get into med school as an out of state applicant. With those grades and if she truely did great on MCAT, she would have likely gotten into a TX medical school, assuming she has at least done some shadowing or worked in healthcare setting.
