I wonder how you go buy a new steak knife set? Can you get arrested on the way home from Bed Bath & Beyond?

I have a patchwork of scars on my left index finger from playing with pocket knives at that age.

We have a European exchange student. Yesterday he was standing in front of the pocket knife display at the hardware store just amazed that you could just buy one right off the shelf with no background check or permit.

I offered to buy him the Kershaw for Christmas, but he politely declined.

Not strictly true. You can have a slip-joint pocket knife as long as the blade is under a certain length. I have a Spyderco UKPK that is designed to comply with England's knife laws. That said the last time I visited the country, years ago, I carried a Microtech auto.

Wonder what the charge would be if you stole the “knife bank box”?!
