The books are better.
The show is heavily sanitized, however, leaving out the absolutely gruesome crimes. The writer, a female, had a lot of sadistic torture and murders in her books that made her seem to be a woman hater.

I’ve never found her all that attractive, cute enough I guess, but that just strikes me as an unflattering photo. I imagine she looks good for her age, and it doesn’t appear she’s butchered her face, so that’s a plus. The armpit hair doesn’t bother me.
