They really need to figure out the water situation. Supposedly the one coming in West Fel will have some kind of closed-loop system where all the water is re-used. Keep me honest if I’m remembering that wrong. But makes me wonder why they all aren’t doing that. Just cheaping out or what? Seems like all the money spent on PR could be spent on that.

Then there’s the power challenges. Oy vey. I want to be supportive but there are so many issues.

Like anything it’s evolving and improving tech. I’d be surprised if any projects breaking ground now aren’t using a closed loop system.

I believe retro fitting is possible but no idea on the cost.

The paper mill is/was much much worse than what the data center will likely be.

Remember that the life span is 30 years. Even the Meta data center will likely be commissioned at probably 10% capacity and it will take years for full capacity, if ever.

It’s insane how almost overnight many human just decided to 100 percent give up their own research and reasoning and let a computer think for them

I track metro Atlanta data center construction as part of my Business Development job. There have been about 90 DC projects in metro over the last 6 years. QTS is currently building out a mega campus on the Southside. Sixteen separate DC buildings that average about 300k sf per. That is one campus. Switch is building one in Cartersville about the same size. DC developers currently building in Atlanta include: Microsoft AWS (Amazon Web Services) Meta DC Blox T5 Data Centers Google Switch QTS DataBank Edgeconnex Stream DC Every one of those have 1 or more campuses with current construction. AWS has two huge campuses being developed. One in Covington and one about to start in Douglasville. Microsoft is about to start its 3rd campus in East Point. Atlanta metro has an absurd amount of DCs.

This is 100% accurate.

And who the hell os building all these DCs that’s a lot of SQFT

Now he's hearing that some of the data center people are starting to offer north of 10k for water rights and power easements.
