Is this a response thread to the guys saying the Northeast was a big shithole?

No. Why would care if someone bags on the Northeast?

If states like California, New York, and Illinois followed suit they’d be better off.

Roads are built to maintain baw, not last.

So, if you exit the interstate they consider that probable cause? No way that would hold up in court. And what if that's your exit?
I’m not a lawyer, nor am I a cop. But at that point they could be doing a “license and registration” check… not sure on the legality. That sign has been there for years though, baw. Don’t let it ruin your Thursday.

I don’t think this happened. Even DUI checkpoints are hairy. I’ve never heard of narco ones because you’re not crossing state or country borders. Perhaps you could do it at state borders under the commerce clause or a long arm statute. You can at the border due to immigration laws. But passing through a west Louisiana city, no, and announcing it is weird

The south also has a frickload of shitty people that should be in jail. Id argue we need way more jails.

Because the south actually prosecutes crimes. The northern Atlantic seaboard and the northern midwestern cities are trying the finger wagging and hand slapping before they are out the door approach.
Seems to be working just fantastic for them.

Bro… you live in Albuquerque… I wouldn’t throw too many stones from your glass house

It absolutely happened, and based on a couple of the responses, it apparently happens all the time.

Hence my confusion.

I saw a sign just outside West Monroe that said "Narcotics Checkpoint Ahead" and several cars being searched by sheriff's deputies at the exit. There's no way that is constitutionally legal, right
Just disregard that. Make a u-turn back to the previous exit and take the back way. Problem solved.

I've never been subject to an unconstitutional search in Albuquerque and a federal judge in New Mexico ruled civil asset forfeiture unconstitutional a few years ago.
Albuquerque has it's issues, but I wouldn't consider it a glass house situation compared to what I saw in Louisiana

As far as I can tell, Louisiana and Mississippi aren't doing that either.
Although I did drive through several areas that had lots of orange barrels on the side of the road, no actual work being done, and plenty of "Fines doubled for speeding" signs.

Better than the drunks passed out on the side of the roads like you are used to in New Mexico

Odd that you left off this part of my quote.
Also, I've lived here 15 years and I've never driven past

"Narcotics Checkpoint Ahead"
The sheriff's office has been doing that for years and those holding will take the exit near the sign, and when they act all stupid, crazy and suspicious the deputies will pull them over.
There is not a real "Narcotics Checkpoint Ahead" ahead.

Albuquerque is a shite hole. We know it, you know it. You coincidentally rank 3rd in poverty behind the two states you are trashing. Congrats on the suck

How can they tell they're acting " all stupid, crazy and suspicious " before they pull them over? And why are you okay with this?
