Red tail insignia on the pic of vertical stab is from the 494th “Panthers”. Definitely from an F-15

PJ’s doing work getting the pilot and wizzo back to safe territory.

No one, repeat NO ONE , can get aircrews back home safe like USAF Pararescue units.

Best of the best….sir!

(Edit… and before anyone tries to give me chit about it let it be known I spent over three years of my career at “The Heath” ;)

32 days of nearly round the clock air strikes and this is the first bird they have splashed. That's winning like no other air campaign has won in the history of air warfare.... and it's not even close.

Still no verification it was shot down or was mechanical failure.

This is the greatest military victory of all time for the Islamic Iranian Regime.

One went down in Libya during Operation Odyssey Dawn due to a "sudden departure from controlled flight caused by a technical malfunction and weight imbalance." It's not implausible. At this point, fratricide, mechanical failure and pilot error are higher threat than anything Iran can muster.

It happens Heck an F16 ran out of fuel and crashed in Iraq war. Heck in the Iraq war two hornets collided on a strike mission and crashed.

but as more reporting is coming out this one was a hostile shootdown.

I'm curious how the f22 is doing facing older aircraft...or if they even bothered putting them in the air.

The F22 is in the area, but they're not bothering to use them. There are no aircraft worth sending up the F22 for.

How so? We’ve flown something like 15,000 combat sorties on Iran since the start of this whatever you want to call it. Are you saying it’s implausible an F-15E, which was first introduced almost 40 years ago, had a mechanical failure?

I’m not saying for sure it was mechanical failure that brought it down. It’s possible the Iranians got off a lucky shot and brought it down. As I said, the F-15E is almost 40 years old, so not exactly cutting edge any longer.

At this point, where we have almost no facts other than we had an F-15E go down in Iran, to make any definitive claim, either mechanical failure or shot down, is premature. Likewise, to say either is “copium” is patently absurd and smacks of allowing your political biases to cloud your judgement.

To make the claim you made makes you appear to want it to be true that Iran shot down this plane and you won’t allow your mind to accept any other outcome.

Yes, one plane shot down is reason enough to fold our tent.

Exactly.

Imagine people acting like this in 1942 when A6M Zeros were slaughtering American Brewster Buffalos and Grumman Wildcats in the Pacific? Or 1943-44 when B-17s were seeing 20-30% losses per misson and it was big news when a single crew was able to make it to 25 missions without being shot down.,

Watching the proggies and joooooo conspiracists band together to cheer on hoping the US military fails in Iran is fascinating, if not very surprising.
