Damn, my brother post on here also.

When I was about 10 I flipped my dad’s clear plastic chair mat upside down in his home office. I knew he was about to walk in there to work later that night. He walked over that thing barefoot and fell down cussing and hollering. Picked his chair up and body slammed it like the Hulkster. Got my arse whipped but it was hilarious.

That is exactly my childhood. The funny thing is he never actually spanked me my mother was the physical disciplinarian. In my twenties, my mother let me in on the "secret" apparently as far as I went my father was a huge softy and wouldn't have actually been able to follow up if I hadn't fallen in line the second he touched his belt. My mother just bluffed me my entire childhood with the "wait until your father gets home" line.

Now that you’ve said that - I can only recalled being spanked once by my dad.

My mom usually did.

Which ironically is how it goes in this house - I’ve spanked the kids more than my husband has (which really isn’t much) - if I say ‘I’m calling Daddy, every one behaves’

frick YOU WILL, YOU'RE BAD GODDAMN LUCK.

The most surprising part of the story is that my dad, the quintessential Gump, did not strangle the young man. His life was saved by I20 traffic.

When my 2 brother’s and I were younger, my dad believed that everything was a lesson and when 1 fricked up, we all fricked up.

I remember waking up and watching cartoons one Sunday morning while my parents were getting ready for church. I heard a loud bang and ran into my oldest brother’s room. He and my middle brother decided to slide across the bed on a beanbag and my middle brother’s head was through the drywall. About that time, my dad came around the corner with the belt.

I made my case that I wasn’t in there, that I, like him, had just walked in and saw the lower half of my brother sticking out of the wall. Didn’t matter. We all got our asses whipped, got ready for church, and sat in the pew with puffy red eyes. Came home, helped patch the drywall, and my dad bbq’d for lunch.

My dad was a drunk and a bully. One night I hear him vomiting in the bathroom. I was around 6 or so. I walk in the bathroom and made the fatal mistake of asking if he was ok. He put me face first through a mirror. One trip to the er and 9 stitches later I had learned my lesson.

Mom got my dad fired up because my brother wasn't home on time, turns out my brother was on a date. This is early 80's, no cell phones, brother got some leather belt that night.

Enlisted in the Navy the next day, served 30yrs and is a pilot for Delta about to retire.

I got both sides of this.. My old man lived through the battle of the bulge. He was a hard arse. 16 year old me talked back to Mom when I was supposed to be cleaning all the windows that day. I was almost finished, but was taking a tv break when he came home. He asked me what I said to Momma and then bitch slapped me three times in the face. 6 foot 190 pound me jumped straight up out of the chair and saw my 53 year old fathers face go scary. He drew back his fist and said "say something" I sat back down.

When I was 10 I had a Crossman pellet pistol that looked like a 45 colt. We were going to my Grandmas house for Thanksgiving and he told me twice to quit playing with that gun in the car. 2 minutes later I shot him in the head playing with that gun with bb,s in it. I thought I was dead.. All he ever said was "that's why I told you to stop playing with that gun".

My Dad never laid a finger on me, my mom usually gave out physical discipline. But it’s so weird that I was 10 times more terrified of what my Dad could do, kind of like in Jaws where it’s scarier to not actually see the shark.

Never saw dad get really angry. Saw disappointment a few times, but he was a happy soul. I miss him

My dad got a little heavy handed sometimes which has taught me to never do that. Also gave out vastly unreasonable punishments that never fit the crime. I thought one day I would grow up and understand, but no, it was stupid and irrational.

My dad has anger issues and 2 stories that come to mind was when we were stringing barbed wire for my uncle, his brother, after my uncle had a massive heart attack. My cousins were out there helping but they couldn’t be in the same zip code without fighting. Due to my uncles heart condition, my dad told them to not mess around that day but to work and go home when it was done. Of course they didn’t listen and were soon fighting. One of them picked up a shovel to hit the other and my dad stepped in. Next thing I know, my dad hit my cousin in the chest and dropped him like a rock. He looked at my other cousin and told him if he spoke one more word, he would be next. Neither spoke a word the rest of the day and finished the job.

The other was when my youngest brother was in high school and told my mom to shut up. Unknown to him, my dad was standing right behind him. My dad picked him up by his sideburns and let him dangle a while, while my brother was kicking and screaming.

Didn’t really lose his shite, but when I was in high school, maybe 16-17, we were just wrestling on our knees on the living room floor. My testosterone got to flowing and I decided I was gonna show the old man who the real alpha in the house was. I guess he could sense that I was getting serious because he had me flat on my back with my shoulders pinned to the floor within about 3 seconds. His words: “Are you done now?” Mine: “Yes sir...”
