Its everyone on the road, truckers, people driving to work, mothers in minivans, everyone drives bad these days.
The only real way to fix this is traffic/speed cameras along the entire length of the bridge, but people hate speed cameras. Cameras would stop speeding and create a clear record of reckless/dangerous drivers.

Are cameras even constitutional in this state? I believe thats why everyone (myself included) throws the ticket in the garbage. But more to the point, what exactly is LSP doing if they aren't patrolling the highways? And it aint just them. I haven't seen BRPD, or any parish deputies writing tickets since Covid. I see Dinky Springs PD pulling people over once in a while on Range. But law enforcement seems to have abandoned any traffic enforcement since 2019.

The problem with the basin bridge is that only 25% needed to be bridge
25%??
Doesn’t half cross the lake and the other half the drainage corridor for Morganza?
Maybe in the middle section between exits, but everything else is prone to high water if they really open the spillway.

Just looking at a map, the area between the whiskey bay pilot channel and Ramah could be on land - built up like the stretch of 190 by Krotz Springs.
The piece between the Atchafalaya and the WBPC could also be on land.
But yeah, the stretch from Henderson to the Atchafalaya River needs to be elevated.
I'm no expert, just my 2 cents.
