1980 is millennial not Gen X. You have more in common with someone born in 1984 than you do someone born in 1976.
Absolutely, I’m 75, I have friends 5 to 10 years older than me and our childhoods were identical. I work with guys 5 to 10 years younger than me and our childhoods were nothing alike.

Something pretty major happened in 1945 that had a pretty significant effect on that.

And, statistically, the older millennials (1980-1988) are just as economically successful and conservative as Generation X.
These arguments are always stupid.
Yes, millennials progression has been a little delayed. That housing crash really fricked us up.
You break it down to early millennials - people in their mid to late 30's - they're doing just fine.

Gen Xers are the professors in colleges teaching millennials all of this SJW crap.
Christine Blasey-Ford: Gen X
3 of the 4 members of the “Squad”: Gen X
Shaun King: Gen X
Don Lemon: Gen X
Chris Cuomo: Gen X
Rachel Maddow: Gen X
Some of the most divisive people in politics are Gen X.
And again, Gen Xers in charge at universities are teaching Millennials nonsense.
All good points.
The cultural divide seems to be largest within the Gen X group.

Greatest Generation were folks who literally had everything taken away from them during the Great Depression by the Roaring Twenties elitists, yet they then nutted up and fought a war on two sides of the Earth with the #14 Team in the country and ended the War #1.
They came home and were tired. They wanted to give their kids what they never had, yet social media (TV) etc., poisoned the minds of their kids to make them distrustful of them and to do the complete opposite of what their elders did. Hence, the Baby Boomers.
The Boomers, for some reason felt like they were smarter, and more open to making the world a better place. Their attitude was that we weren’t changing fast enough to suit them. In my opinion, they were the first spoon-fed generation who believed anything and everything that spewed out of TV’s, Radios, and press. Then, taking these queues, did the exact opposite (my belief is that is precisely what the SJW agenda stood for). They had kids, but because they didn’t respect their parents enough growing up, they assumed that their kids would become just as unruly as they were. Thus, they let their parents raise them, these Gen X’ers.
Gen Xers- were told by the social media that they were Gen X. That they wouldn’t amount to a hill of beans. That they would have a worse standard of living than their parents or grandparents. Coupled with the stability and conservatism found in their grandparents homes, they not only adopted a distrust of the media, they also adopted the self-reliance of their Greatest Generation grandparents. Basically, their philosophy is one of having to do it all themselves. Unfortunately, Gen Xers were mostly single parents with high divorce rates (in part due to the examples set by their parents as well as their sheer stubbornness to rely on someone else as in a spouse) they managed to allow their children to get lured into a false sense of security that their Baby Booming parents finally got old and wised up to the error of their ways. Unfortunately, the ideology of their parents gave rise to warping the minds of their children which were the Millennials.
The Millennials are another generation that should be looked upon as the Hippie/Boomers but younger. They have questioned every single social norm while lapping up every drop of social media SJW crap that comes out.
Many older Xers that had children in their late 30’s / early 40’s have started to realize this and have taken a drastic step in raising their younger children more in line of their grandchildren and thus we have a new generation that abhors social justice warriors, liberals, and modern music.
I have 1 child 29 - he’s full on Millenial. But he is wising up to them. Born in ‘’90. He was a Bernie guy but now is full on Republican once he got out of LSU.
My youngest is 16 - loves Zepplin, Trump, and hates absolutely hates anything milenial. She loves Jesus, football, GNR, AC/DC, the 80’s, and even wears a Reagan / Bush Tshirt. She’s probably more conservative than me and she loves picking apart her grandparents liberal hippie views with me. It’s just awesome. Her whole bunch of friends (all 15-17 year old girls are pretty much the same way).
Anyway just my opinion based on research and life experience.
