Married to a nurse who retired 5 years ago, comfy shoes with good support cannot be overstated.

Does she want to stay in the nursing home setting as an RN? If so a nice stethoscope like a Littmann is pretty much useless. It will end up with who knows what on it (poop, vomit, or other Bourbon Street types of fluids) or it will end up stolen by one of the CNA’s, LPN’s or resident family members.
Give her the gift of getting out of that awful nursing home. Oh and a nice vacation would probably mean a lot to her.

take her for a surprise weekend somewhere to celebrate just the two of you (assuming no kids or childcare is available). Doesn't have to be super fancy, just a few nights at a resort or hotel within driving distance. She's gonna get her own comfy shoes..
