The Winters are amazing.
Unfortunately they last about 2-3 weeks.
Spring and Fall are good too, maybe about 4-5 months.
Summer, however, runs from late April to early November and ruins everything.

IMO, people, food, history, and sports are kinda what makes up the culture here. And culture is a decently strong aspect of the state.
"The People" are the weakest part of the culture, IMO, my number 1 only because of my friends and family (which obviously isn't applicable to everyone). There are a large contingency of people here who are worthless. There's enough good/bad that they basically cancel each other out.

When I retire, I will still keep a house here. Louisiana will always have some presence in my life. It will not be my primary residence though.
I fear for my kids' safety growing up here. I'm afraid they have a greater chance of coming across someone or something that will harm them, in addition to their prospects of higher education or employment here.
My generation will likely be the last of my family here and I don't think I'm alone. That being the case, how does Louisiana's future look? The BR/NOLA Mayors in office are shite, and will likely get shittier as we go on. What will this place be like here in 20 years?

fall in south louisiana is pretty great between the weather, fishing, football, etc. the general "vibe" is hard to beat.

You can go away for a year and return smarter than everyone else.

That first cool snap is always wonderful but it’s mainly because of the complete garbage previous 4-5 months

The Food Not much needs to be said here, you all know our food is amazing, it speaks for itself.
Other than a handful of places in New Orleans the food is mediocre.
at best. Does anyone in South La know how to cook with anything besides Tony’s seasoning?

The weather is great for four weeks out of the year.

- The muzzle flashes are pretty at night. It sets a mood
- Lots of people will remove me of my burdensome excess goods or life if I accidentally enter their neighborhood. Sometimes they even come visit my neighborhood to do the same.
- They've yet to build a wall to prevent me from eventually escaping for good
- I don't have to waste much time finding us on hierarchal lists of things. Louisiana is usually at the top or bottom edge of the list.
- Most people can find us on a map because we're shaped like a foot.
- It's not too dry usually

I see you've never tailgated for an LSU football game. Some of the food people are making on the spot is simply awesome, and can't be found anywhere else.

Sounds like you hang out with shitty cooks. I haven't owned a jar of Tony's in over 10 years.
My cooking method has evolved more into exploring the french side of cooking. I like using wine in dishes, do some dry brining, incorporate acid (vinegar) in different ways.

The People I’ve always found that a good majority of people in Louisiana are the kind of people who would give you the shirt off their back. Friendly, hard-working, unique, family-oriented
if this were true we wouldn't have all the problems we have as a state

If you use Tony’s to season your food, then you aren’t from Louisiana. People down here, have their own special seasonings. Tony’s is for the non-Louisiana people, to make them think they’re eating authentic, Cajun food.
