Born and raised here. I love it. When I leave for an extended period, I look forward to getting back home. I live in a smaller city (12-13k people), on the outskirts of town at that. I have property so my neighbors are not within 100 yards of me. I can hop on the ranger and go ride the "neighborhood", as are my neighbors. Everyone waves to you. We eat great. Sure my city has it's shortcomings, just like every other single city/town/village in this country.

This is always my question about people on this board that are so upset about living here. What type of areas are you living? Cities? Stupid cookie cutter neighborhoods where you can high 5 your next door neighbor though your kitchen windows?

Fingerbanging a Cajun princess when we both were young.

That was good.

This is such an unbelievably overrated part of Louisiana, New Orleans in particular.

Yes, there are some Louisiana-type dishes that are good, but you can go to any big city these days and find food just as good as it is here.

The racism is some of the best in the whole country. So there’s that. I can fly my rebel flag with no problems.

The people laugh louder than any place I have ever lived

Fun and joy of life takes precedence over many of the synthetic things in life

Family is most everything to most people I encounter. Family density is by far greater than any place I have ever lived

Sense of place and tradition is highest by far than any place I have ever been

The organic / authentic (people, place and vibe) beats synthetic every place I have lived.

Too many other places are just plain vapid, even if you do have a Buc-ees.

Makes me the happiest, by far. And I have lived in some cool places across US and world.

Football culture and talent density is 2nd to none. Lived in Texas for over a decade. Talking to TX, CA, and FL in particular.

Warts and all…give me Louisiana. It’s warts serve as a filter of people who put plastic things of life over joie de vivre.

All said, insular cuts both ways. Some fresh and innovative ways to bring opportunity to benefit all in and of the state is long overdue.

Nepotism and political blue bloods are poison.

Racism is deep.

LSU use to be just about the only thing good about Louisiana.

That is quickly fading with the woke bullshite.

My family lives there (I was the only one that got out) and I have a hard time visiting.

Like the people,

the ingredients, the fun cooking it, and the experience it creates trumps the spices. Yet, the spices are a bonus.

Narrow, narrow views are born elsewhere. Please keep them there.
