Is this a LA thing? I don’t think half the people here know what this is.
My guess is that’s way too sweet and overpowering.

Does this really bother people they're taking away a logo off some syrup?

Natchez, you're next.

It’s less sweet than the high fructose corn syrup masquerading as maple syrup now. It has an almost smoky rich flavor too it. It makes absolutely incredible bbq sauces and when mixed with Italian salad dressing is the best basting/mol sauce I’ve ever tasted for reddish and trout.
It’s just not right for pancakes in my humble opinion.

"Hungry Jack" will be next. That's clearly insensitive towards people with eating disorders.

Was Aunt Jemima a real person associated with the product? If not, then the branding is racially insensitive.

Gotcha. Yeah, that sounds more like a recipe additive than a pancake syrup.

So the product isn't going away. But what may have attracted you to the product is (association of an older black woman with good food).

Steens is great on french toast, biscuits and pancakes. It all I use BUT it’s an acquired taste.

You should have heard the wailing when Sambo's changed its name. And the loss of Darkie toothpaste was a sad day for many.
Europe has seen the change of lots of product and place names that were associated with racial or ethnic stereotypes, the slave trade, etc. It gets backlash there, just as in America.

A sudden controversy has exploded in the Netherlands. In March, the Dutch department store HEMA began selling a traditional Dutch pastry under the name chocoladebal (chocolate ball) instead of moorkop (referring to the head of a dark-skinned person). HEMA followed in the footsteps of a small baker who believed the racist connotation left the chocolate-glazed pastry with a bad aftertaste. The change didn’t go unnoticed. The baker was forced to close after angry customers refused to leave his store unless he gave them a moorkop. On Twitter, he was accused of being an NSBer — a reference to those who collaborated with the Germans during the Second World War.
