Tee shirt gun loaded with tennis balls, if you don't have one of those use a potato cannon

That's my vacation savings.
and I have three in my yard, waiting for the Honduran to come pick them up and take them to the scrap yard. That will only get me nine feet.

I would honestly shoot my recurve with some braided test up and over the limb. Then yank on the line until it falls down.

Start climbing. Let's not re-invent the wheel here

It's 45 damn feet, throw something up there and knock it down. Need nerf football and a few throws

Baseball with string. Then shake with string.

Got my dji phantom 2 stuck in a tree at my parents house on thanksgiving day. Probably 75-80ft+ up in a gum tree. Not far from the top. I was bringing it in to land and about 2ft off the ground it went uncontrollable (fail safe return to home) it ascended to whatever altitude it's set for and made off towards the other side of the yard where it originated it's home point. Only problem was the tree in its way.
It smacked that tree and really wedged itself in there. I spent the afternoon casting lead weights and blocks of wood at it in an effort to snag the drone or the branch. That was a waste of time as most casts I fell way short. The thing was way up there.
The next 2 days I spent 6-8 hours each day with my fishing bow shooting fishing arrows into the tree. I got about 6 of those hung up and broken off in the tree. I got close a few times the 1st day. On the 2nd day I snagged the branch and tried to shake it out and/or break the branch. No dice. The Dacron line broke. Then I actually snagged the drone itself! I was able to free it, but upon coming free it got tangled in a previously broken Dacron line. I broke off and the damned thing swung right back in the tree about 3 ft lower this time and wedged again.
Finally I said screw it and told my mom to call her tree surgeon. He came out Monday following thanksgiving and went right to it in his bucket truck. Only charged me $75 which I thought was very cool of him. But my mom had 3 trees she needed taken down so he did those while there. So my guess is if he didn't have the other work there the drone woulda cost plenty more.

Is the tree straight? Get a hunting climbing stand.

Couple lengths of pvc pipe and a union.

Is this thing registered with the FAA?
It better be.
You only have to register if:
"Weighs more than 0.55 lbs. (250 g) and less than 55 lbs. (25 kg). Unmanned Aircraft weighing more than 55 lbs. cannot use this registration process and must register using the Aircraft Registry process."
Speculating that a $70 drone weighs less than 0.55 pounds...

that's what I tried this afternoon. I had 30' of pvc but it bent too much, I did knock it down one branch but now it's perfectly snagged on a blade guard to where it needs to be pushed up or yanked hard.
It's still up there now. I'll get bigger pipe from Home Depot tomorrow.

Dear Citizen,

I used the largest fishing weight I could find tied to some heavy fishing line and shot the weight up to the branch with a sling shot. Then used the remaining line to shake the limb to release the drone. Took a few time but it worked.

It's $70. Buy another one.

I was going to suggest a $40 tree pruner from Home Depot.
BUT!
Then I remembered several friends who got high up in trees to prune them and fell. When you consider the doctor bills and the inability to walk right ever again, it is much cheaper to buy a new drone for $70.
You are looking at this situation as a personal challenge. Please put it in perspective of being able to live the rest of your life as a fully functioning person.
