what about the mental heath of our relatives that are locked up in assisted living,stc..
Things that will never be discussed when this is all said and done. State department’s MANDATING by threat of monetary penalty and cancellation of Medicaid certification, that nursing homes shut down in house visitation for what will essentially be a calandra year has done has done incomprehensible damage.
State agencies were the first ones in line to strip away every possible right that someone in a nursing home or assisted living center had available to them.

I would have taken her out of there myself and fricked up anyone who stood in my way

These places are hell on earth. My advice is to get her out of that place ASAP.

Grandma in Rehab
"It was Christmas in prison
And the food was real good
We had turkey and pistols
Carved out of wood..."
Hope Grandma gets as good as possible.

State law mandates that the facility allow you to put in a granny cam if you so choose. You have to disclose it to the facility and sign a form but they can’t refuse it.
They try to dissuade you with a mountain of paperwork
It can only be done in a private room or the other resident / POA has to sign off
You also have to provide your own WiFi
They are going to use Covid as an excuse as to not letting the internet provider in to set up service
If she’s in there for rehab hopefully she will be out in a couple of weeks

Call the social worker at the facility. Complain, complain, complain.
Pressure sores and skin breakdowns will happen SO fast. The last thing she needs to be dealing with is an infected bed sore which will only prolong her stay. Some CNAs are golden but the majority are lazy as hell. I can’t imagine having a family member in a SNF right now. Unscheduled “pop ins” by family members is what would keep the CNAs on their toes. I’m a therapist and I worked at a SNF for several years. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve changed patients (diapers, sheets, clothes) because a CNA was nowhere to be found for hours... good luck and I hope she can come home soon.

I'm in a similar situation with my grandmother. She's been in and out of rehab for falling at her last assisted living home, which was actually nice. (She has real bad Alzheimer's and dimentia) They moved her to a rehab facility that is a fricking dump.
They called and said she needed clothes about 2 weeks ago, so I went and took her 6-7 outfits, some of which were new with tags. They wouldn't let me in the facility to give them to her, or even see her. Today they called and said she had covid, and that she has no clothes and has been in a hospital gown for 3 weeks now. I came un-fricking-glued.
There are no good options and there's really not a whole lot you can do about it. I have a hard time sleeping at nights over it. shite is weighing on my conscience. But my grandpa died last year and she can't be left on her own.
