There is no way to determine the answer because Karate men bruise on the inside.

Rickson Gracie is the correct answer. His son Kron is probably every bit as talented without the pedigree and his brother Royler, who I am under in BJJ, is no slouch either.

Rickson is the correct answer. Even Helio said Rickson is the physical embodiment of Jiu Jitsu.

Johnny Lawrence. He had one bad fight, but is recently been on a path of redemption.

Fedor Emilianenko in his prime would destroy any of these martial artists in a real fight. He’s big, strong, fearless with excellent stand up and ground game. He was undefeated for 10yrs against the best in the world.

Bruce Lee comes to mind. Chuck Norris, if only for the funny memes over the recent years. I love Jackie Chan because he's just awesome. Who you got?
Why do people think that an actor is going to be the best martial artists? Chuck Norris is trash. Brush Lee is trash, Jackie Chan, yep you guessed it, is trash.

The greatest martial artists ever, is Jon Jones or Fedor. Jon Jones can be by the time he retires if he can keep that nose clean. Chuck, Bruce, and Jackie would get crushed in the octagon.

It's probably someone we've never heard of, if you're talking about a fighter who would defeat any other fighter.

In terms of what he did for martial arts as a globally respected and recognized art and fighting form(s), it's Bruce Lee by a mile.

And no, all of his fights weren't "mythology." He was challenged constantly, including a guy who climbed over his fence into his back yard to challenge him.

Were most of them chumps? Probably. We'll never know, but it was known, and is still respected and talked about today by MMA fighters, that his skill was legit. He was not a pussy actor pretending to be a fighter.

Chuck Norris is legit.

He fought in the full contact karate tournaments back in the day with Superfoot and Lewis.

are you sure?

Most likely, the BEST MARTIAL ARTISTS, are men /women we've never seen, or maybe never heard of because they teach/taught somewhere on the globe off camera.
