I've always been more of night owl than a morning person. I don't guess that's ever going to change at this point.

I’m up and out long before just about everyone else in my neighborhood. I’m also home well after them. I work long hours and my day starts early. You bet your arse I sleep past 0600 on a weekend.
If youre an inconsiderate arse and you make a frick ton of noise and wake me or my kids up at the arse crack of dawn on a Saturday just so you can mow on your busted arse zero-turn with your little battery powered mister fan and your umbrella before the temp breaks 75F so you don’t wilt from the afternoon heat, don’t come crying to me about how much of a man you are you fricking fat body.
If my neighbor works late or has a baby or something is going in that prompts them to make a kind request to me to keep it down during a certain time of day and I can acquiesce then they get kindness in return. You can bet your arse they will probably also get some of my bbq and a beer or two later on in the day. Kindness begets kindness.
The way I see it they probably left you a note because either they saw you were busy and didn’t want to disturb you OR you already have the reputation of being the neighborhood try-hard and they really didn’t want to deal with you bitching to the HOA because someone “accosted” you over your lawnmower.

Piss off, I’ll sleep as late as I feel like sleeping. What really pisses me off are people who get up really early, call people who sleep until 8:00 AM lazy, then take a two hour nap midday.

me too, really, just can't sleep in, a large portion of my career has been going to work while the sun is still up and seeing it rise, usually a few circadian skips away, I can never just go to the hotel or my home and go right to sleep

I get it. It’s pretty pussy to put notes on your front door, but then again, it’s kind of inconsiderate to make all that racket too early in the morning and assume everyone lives a life just like you do as well.

I'm a relatively heavy sleeper and we have pretty large lots in my neighborhood and double paned windows. My neighbor mowing his grass wouldn't be anything more than a faint sound in my bedroom.

I worked third shift all through school. I got curtains that blacked out my bedroom and made adjustments to muffle noise. I didn’t go to the neighbors and demand that they conform for ME.
