I don't recommend getting it. I had expensive leaf filter installed and it looks great on paper, but the fact of the matter is it can't keep up with torrential downpours. The water skims over the filter and over the gutters. They put more deflector plates in and that sort of solved the issues in the corners, but its not a perfect solution.

I had a knockoff brand installed on another property. It was so bad that I wound up having it removed six months later.

I now have a contract with a gutter cleaning service.

Because it'll wash your foundation away. We don't have gutters and it's clear that we need them. It got bad enough that I could see under the foundation at a corner and had to wheel over some dirt and shore it back up. Unfortunately, this place was built on borderline wetlands.

That's insanely high. Never purchase anything 3rd party through your big box stores. Call a local gutter company, and your estimate should be about a 1/3 of that price.

I have been paying around $2000 per house for the past year on new construction spec houses. Most of my houses are around 2000 square feet.

Expect prices to go up if the installers are named Joe vs Jose going forward.

Or just install them all yourself. I'm thinking about ripping the gutters off my house. I fail to see the point of them. They get clogged with leaves. Even with the leaf filter on, they still get clogged but now you have to deal with the damn filters being in the way as well.

You really don't even need them.....just make sure water is running off evenly

Shop around. Invoice from June 2023 from a group of local firefighters that do this as their side gig.

A majority of the installers got deported. Now, it's Phil and Cletus having to install and prices have gotten interesting.

I doubt that enough illegal immigrants have actually been deported to significantly affect that.

I just replaced a bunch of mine including guards and the total was $2,800.

Seemed like a fair price to me especially since they were second story and no way old-me was going to tackle that.

I got the invoice breakdown if you're interested. Just did this in July.

I paid about $3,000 earlier this year on a 2,000 sqft house

I had a good bit of downspouts, though

Rep said the increase in price with the filter is they use medical grade stainless mesh

Yea…. They don’t use medical grade mesh. Their idea of “medical grade” is that it won’t rust and won’t degrade quickly. What they should say is “we use good mesh and not that Chinese crap”.

I honestly don’t know why gutters are so popular.

Well, they protect your home from potential rot, roof damage, pest issues, structural issues, mold, mildew, and so on. If you live in an area with clay in the soil, gutters help to greatly reduce the staining of the house. I have a beautiful 3 year old, $600k home across the street that looks like crap because of the clay staining….no gutters. Dumb. Also, who wants water pouring down on them if they’re needing to leave the house? Divert that shite. The benefits of gutters go a long way. I put my own leaf guards on my houses. Just blow off the occasional build up that may rarely happen….good to go. I have a 900 sq ft sunroom that would get soaked from water splashing in if we didn’t have gutters. No thanks.
