Yup. Did that 8 years or so ago. I had literally NEVER worn it, having given it to my high school girlfriend when I was a senior, and obviously did not wear it afterwards. It was nothing my sons were going to care about and would be something they'd be too guilty to throw away and eventually some unknown grandchild would be forced to deal with it. Did take some photos of it though just to keep.

So I sold it and I'm pretty sure we just went out to eat and used that. Was kind of like my late father was able to buy the grandsons he never met a meal.

When my oldest ended his junior year my wife and I talked to him about him getting a ring and we told him we would, but also told him how worthless they were to us and that we'd rather give him the money it would cost to buy one and we could invest it for him. He chose that route.

And I never got a college ring when I graduated. I did not go to A&M, so saw no reason to buy that.

My parents made me get a high school ring, so i got the $59 tungsten one. I have never worn it. It does have a confederate flag on it, though so it is kind of cool. I didn't get a college ring.

Same here.

I like my HS and my ring has sentimental value.

Never got a college ring- seemed pointless and I glad I didn’t.

Same here. Both of mine were stolen. I'm sure they got $30 bucks out of them.

I'd buy a Class of 1960 Jesuit High School ring.

I lost my high school ring years ago amd never even really thought about it again. Didn’t purchase a college ring because I would have lost that one too.

Everyone hating the class ring tradition can thank the West Point class of 1835 for starting it.

I lost my high school ring but consider my college ring almost as priceless as my wedding ring.

My parents told me it was the biggest waste of money I could ever spend and I wouldn’t care about it as I got older. For high school they gave me half the cash it would have cost and told me to spend it on something I really wanted instead so I got a new CD player. Rings are worthless.

I still wear mine when I'm at GT games/events. I used to wear it to work alot when younger and made it easy to find GT alums as the signet ring back then was very distinctive.

I sold mine years ago when the gold prices were sky high, got a couple hundred for it.

I only wore it briefly. I got it caught on something I was chucking into a dumpster and it deformed the ring which dug into my finger. I never got it fixed and never really had any interest in wearing it again.

Pawned for beer money in college. Told my parents I never wanted one so didn’t feel bad about it, was a giant waste of their money.
