Yep. It will take a lot longer than they realize and the task is huge. Europe seems like the type of place to deal with those hardships better than the US would.

If the Russia thing pushes for months or years it may turn into an embargo event like Brazil needed. One event to cause a major overhaul.

Want to see a solid red county turn into a bunch of tree huggers real quick? Announce a nuke plant in their backyard.

We might have the flexibility to expand our existing nuclear facilities over time.

Europe, at least right now, might need something much faster. No idea how fast they can stand up new power plants or what kind of fuel they can use. Honestly it might be gas.

Umm there are multiple nuclear power plants in the backyard of South Louisiana. Still pretty red around them.

BUT, i think we can both agree that instead of the government step in with forced policies, regulations, and mandates, you simply get out of the way and let free market capitalism lead on the innovation front.
Free market capitalism does what is most profitable, generally meandering toward positive outcomes for everyone. Free market capitalism does NOT do what may be most beneficial for a country in the long term. Free market capitalism does not have goals related to domestic production of goods, or food or energy security. That's what policy is for.

Capitalism is prone to booms and busts. Some policies which appear to, or even obviously, force a bust may be expected to help avoid a bigger bust. Maybe it worked, maybe it didn't, we don't get do-overs to compare.

Schellenberger is reporting that Putin was himself somewhat behind the green energy propaganda in Europe to begin with.

There is absolutely no doubt that was happening. Its been proven and even Hillary Clinton admitted to it. So that tells you something.

Go try and develop a new one then. I'm been part of 4 attempts that all went tits up because the locals pulled out their pitchforks and lawyers.

We can't eliminate the need for O&G, but we can sure as hell lessen our dependency, perhaps to the point where we can become self-sufficient.

We CAN be self sufficient right now if we allowed domestic O&G to open up!!! Unreal...

FIFY
We dont have to rely on outside sources. Our current leaders chose this for us despite our own abundant energy resources.

We can make an impact.

Maybe...but not by following the democrats plan of forcing all industry over seas where they use coal and have less environmental protections....not to mention near slave labor. Then you have to ship all those goods back over using more energy. When are pro-regressive idiots going to realize they got scammed by Democrats to send jobs over seas and use foreign corrupt markets (like China) as barrier to entry to smaller companies so bigger companies can profit Hugely! and Amazon can rake it all in.
