Funny. That’s what I told your mom last night.

No but my boxing instructor back when I was in my teens was in his 40s. We sparred a few times and back then there was another guy I sparred with some in his late 20s. I usually only boxed people my age. As far as actual street fights I’m pretty sure all have been within 5-6 years of my age

Never done it but I’m the old man now at the gym. Almost 42, out-lifting 26 year old guys. I’m told it’s old man strength. I’ll take it.

I took a swing at my old man one Christmas. I never dreamed that it would be his last.

Sorry about your Dad, but damn, I can’t even imagine this. Maybe if he was abusive and about to hurt someone…

I was 17, going to pick up my GF for a date, so I was dressed up, wearing English Leather and madras slacks. I was driving in a residential area, this car ran a stop sign, to avoid I swerved up on the grass into a garden. I got out, my car had plants and bushes all under it, some people had come out, I backed up and started pulling the debris out under my car.
I felt a hand grab me from behind my collar, I was in shape from sports, weighed about 170, 6'1", this SOB almost lifted me off the ground, tearing my shirt. He threw me on the ground and said "you weren't thinking about leaving without paying for the damage you caused".
Some lady standing there said "Mr. Hoss, if you hurt him, you are going to jail"
I stood up ready to defend, this old guy was about 50, built like a fireplug, I could smell the beer and cigarettes, he tried to grab me again, I moved and when he came closer I grabbed him in a headlock, big mistake. In a second he had my arm twisted behind me back, I knew he was going to break it, but a cop car pulled up.
The 2 cops came over, one of them said "Hoss, let him go right now".
An explanation of grievances followed, unfortunately no one said they saw the car run the stop sign, so I was responsible. The $5 I had to take my GF out for pizza was my life savings, one of the cops knew my dad, so it was decided that I would come back the next day to work on the garden.
I did, Mr. Hoss helped, as I thought he was a Marine, WWII vet, not a bad guy. My dad thought I handled things reasonably, at least that's what he told me. Later I found out he had words with Hoss about manhandling a kid.

I lost mine, too. Before I was ready. Before he was ready. I won’t pretend to know what he’s thinking now- but I can’t imagine he’s not laughing- waiting, for me to graduate life.

Older man isn’t going to frick around with you if you are the problem. He’s going to put you down and it’s not going to be fist on fist.

True, but unlike some animals that live among us, once the other is down, the old man will typically stop and not kick them in the head after knocking them out or something. Only a trashy pos continues to punch and kick someone after the fight is clearly over.

My current, almost 50 year old, self could probably take my 20 year old self. It would have to end quickly though…definitely don’t have the stamina I had 30 years ago. As mean as I was 30 years ago, 30 years of living would be the advantage. If anything, my 20 year old self held back and wouldn’t go full beast mode. Current day self will rip your throat out with my teeth if that’s what it takes to put you down for good. Current day self would take two weeks to recover after going at it with 20 year old self however.
