It's funny to think that this is how it starts, and very well could be how it ends. Little by little.

When you get home this afternoon from work and are craving a beer, strap on your oldest running shoes, pick your nuts up, and go run til your legs give out. I mean it, til you cant take another step. Embrace the pain that will come with it and let go of any self-guilt or self-hatred. Your mind will wander through some dark places but there will be clarity on the other side.

Just try it.

Good for you. I hardly drink at all anymore. Once you go a week without it, you forget about it. Just don’t think about it

You at least realize there is a problem and you are motivated to deal with it. Good on you bro. I have a bum back and I have had three surgeries on it. I naturally got addicted to opioid pills and when I was cut off I turned to heroin. I spent three years as a slave to the drug. Not my proudest moments. I lost everything and had to start over. I no longer have a problem with it but even now I think about doing it every day. I will keep you in my prayers friend.

Wow, that sounds rough. I'm happy to hear you're doing better. The wandering thoughts can get you, sometimes. Stay strong.

Ah yes. My mathematic skills improved once I was an alcoholic. Buy cheap at high alcohol content.

Thanks Andy, both the baby and momma are doing great so far. It's our first so we are just trying to figure everything out. Good luck with your sobriety.

I'd just like to hear of others "sober up" stories, or maybe how you temper your usage and still enjoy it.

I've been there and done that. No hangovers, no embarrassing regrets, my life is MUCH improved.
Its the best thing I've done. Keep it up man and find a good AA meeting. The stories told in those rooms helped me stay motivated.

Been battling addiction for 12 years now. Currently 7 months sober. Just remember you don't have to do this alone. Try an AA meeting...get to know other people who are going through the same struggles. Let me know if I can help

“Congrats on being a quitter” is such a childish remark. I really hope anyone that says it is no older than 17.

You need to start going to AA meetings. AA saved my life and it can do the same for you.

I am glad it worked for you but AA is one of the least effective avenues to quit. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theatlantic.com/amp/article/386255/
