I love a teacher thread as much as anyone - it's one of the pure joys of the OT - but these are unsubstantiated allegations and every one of you frickers making jokes in this thread would be ashamed of yourselves if you knew the character of this woman. And she resigned - she was not fired
You should recuse your comments and judgement from future teacher threads because it's obvious that when the shoe is on the other foot, your mind is closed and ridiculously defensive.

There isn't a person out there that cares as deeply for HC as Charlie DiGange. I'm sure the decision made regarding one of the most tenured and well-respected faculty was not made lightly.

I'm class of 88' and I don't recall any rumors from our class. She was a great teacher and I pray that there are hard facts to back this up bc it has tarnished a tremendous teaching reputation. I'm also good friends with G Battistella and know that he loved HC dearly. Two big losses for the school.

Great teacher but I know of 3 students in my class that had "relations" with her. That back room was for more than just project fur.

I went there in the 90s it really wasn't a secret. Not sure of the purpose of someone reporting her now though.

People have boundary issues. It happens often. There were more attractive teachers there that never had rumors spread about them. Smoke, fire.

I was there in mid 90s from 91-95. She had her special students but I guess maybe I was naive or did not notice. There were rumors of other teachers being with football players or coaches. The art teacher and an English teacher.

They can't. The USCCB implemented a new, nationwide policy that applies to priests, nuns, teachers--everyone. Under that policy there's no statute of limitations and the age of consent is 18. Any credible allegation, no matter how old, and you're out.

A few have said there were rumors about an English teacher, but I dont recall any ladies teaching english, only Leach and Israel.
I really don't get why someone would throw this allegation out after 25 years.

What does the USCCB have to do with this? Holy Cross is not run by the archdiocese so not sure they need to comply with their policies

Haase tought English, and of course there were rumors about her as well, which I don't believe any of. Also picque (probably the best looking teacher during my 8 years) was an English teacher. Plenty of rumors there also, which I also don't believe

A short brunette who taught until about 89 or 90. She may have taught speech. Can't remember exactly... Had a beer or six since then.

I doubt they would have fired her without sufficient evidence. My guess is she was confronted with the allegations and confessed.

There were no rumors about her during the mid to late 80's. There may have been wishful thinking but nothing like the rumors surrounding the teacher in the op.
