They may have been right before or after my time. Sound familiar, but I don't recall them.
There was another science teacher when I was there who was an absolute smoke show. She was young and married and very religious.

I have it on good authority that this was brought up basically because the mother of the "victim" is upset that her druggy son is a frick up at life, and wanted an excuse for him.
Apparently, there was a federal investigation of some sort that lasted several years involving more than just the relationship allegations. That investigation turned up nothing. After the conclusion of the investigation, the mother wasn't happy and went directly to the archdiocese.

The dude must be approaching 40 at the youngest

I figured it was some guy in therapy who brought this up.

I really don't get why someone would throw this allegation out after 25 years.
The guy is a freaking junkie loser - have no idea what his motives are. Probably seeking money to support his "lifestyle."

Why would they e-mail blast every alumn that ever sent them an e-mail address? There will almost surely be nothing that comes out from this. Did they just feel the need to embarrass her in front of thousands of people who knew her personally based on a 25 year old story?

Civil suit should be barred - prescriptive period is 10 years from the age of majority (18).

I doubt they would have fired her without sufficient evidence. My guess is she was confronted with the allegations and confessed.
You could not be further off base. This has been pushed from many angles for a long time, all resulting in nothing. This is the type of woman who would sacrifice herself to protect the school from exactly the type of crap that is going on here. This is all the result of a fricking loser grasping at straws.

I like how everyone knows everyone on this board. Someone makes a post about some individual in some obscure part of Louisiana and a bunch of people post about how they know that person. It's totally hilarious.

I was there late 80's/early 90's and I don't recall the rumors about her. The rumors I always heard involved a different female teacher whose name I can't recall. She had lighter hair and I believe also taught science. Israel was my English teacher, but he was living with Gerard if I recall. Israel and Gerard were awesome.

MahiFishn is on the right track here.

It's just Charlie doing what the Archdiocese told him to do, he's almost like their puppet!
One reason I dislike the archdiocese is that they said a couple of years ago that church fairs could not be held on Sunday's, well HC always had their "Family Day" on a Sunday with a mass at the start. So after this was said, it's no longer held on Sunday but now on a Saturday

Since when is New Orleans "some obscure part of Louisiana"?
And, because of its bus service, Holy Cross attracted students from just about every part of New Orleans. With the possible exception of Jesuit, Holy Cross definitely had the widest geographic student base in the city. You can talk to people from Kenner to St. Bernard to the West Bank who heard stories about the teacher in the OP. I heard stories from people who went to the grammar school she taught at prior to going to Holy Cross in the late '70's.

Why would the administration want her out?
If they sent out groundless emails, she'd have a hell of a civil suit against the school.

How about investigation?
the democracy magically reversed the burden of proof on the accused...fun times, eh?!

Scandalous!
I know the other science teacher. She was every kids' desire, but never heard rumors about her. And the Lyons rumors were not prevalent or active discussions, just one of those things you'd hear from someone who someone when you first started there. I don't think anyone really believed them, I never did.
She was a damn good teacher, and made a significant impact on my life as did several other of my teachers at HC.

25 yrs...she had to be on top of retirement
they just pushed a bit to do the deed herself

That doesn't lead to this story. This isn't about pushing someone out. That would be ridiculous.
