It’s the 97th percentile nationally and most people in Louisiana are fricking retarded.
It never ceases to amaze me how stupid some of you are

I know for a fact that LSU isn’t crawling with applications from top 3% national students, yes.
Their scholarship program, or lack there of, has nothing to do with what I said.

Make your kid pay half and you pay half.

Having been through this twice in the past 6 or so years with 2 kids who scored 32 and 35 I'll just agree to disagree.

It’s too 3%, which is top 3%, there’s nothing to debate.

1990ish, tuition was $1025/semester and I thought that was expensive.
1992 was $1024/semester full time. Plus books.

It was ~$2600 in the late 2000s
When did their admissions standards change? My brother had a full ride with a 30 ACT in 2015

According to the advocate they post almost 50 kids with a 36 on the act every year
Posted on 4/12/25 at 5:24 pm to achenator
I know students who went to LSU with 36’s because of the presidential scholarships they gave them. If you are in the 34-36 score LSU will court you heavy with money. But I have notice 33 and below don’t get this treatment

Yep, glad my kids are in their 30's and finished with college.

Niece just got accepted to Iowa and it will end up being $192k for out of state for a Public school
Better off investing that 192k in a house in Iowa.

quote:That’s preposterous. They’re taking advantage of parents that love their kids and think they have to send them to college at any cost. Save the equivalent amount for your kid that a college education would cost, give them the cash towards a house and let them retire 10 years earlier than they would otherwise. Unless you’re kid is very bright and equally driven, they’ll struggle to ever break even on that investment.
25K per year after all the scholarships and grants.
I’d buy them 100k in bitcoin and let them retire at 30 but that’s just me.

Ridiculous take. No such thing as a useless degree
Okay boomer. Maybe 40 years ago when a humanities degree cost $2500 a semester. Not now when they cost $25,000 a semester. You’re better off buying some equipment and posting YouTube videos of you playing video games.

I can name two people from the Savannah College of Art and Design who graduated with art degrees that are worth more than a billion each. Very new money.
If you are actually in the business world and take a minute to google people you are meeting with you’d realize that people in very influential positions have random humanities degrees.
I don’t meet people without getting to know as much as I can about them beforehand. The backgrounds always surprise me.

True. The ACT can be gamed now with all of the test prep materials/classes. In my day (1990s) you could get into top 25 schools with a 29 ACT score.

Up here we are complaining that tuition books and residence/meal plan has gone up; all told we are paying 15k Canadian or about 9500 American per kid.
