I believe the Highlander is a much better vehicle.

I own the Highlander Limited and love it. Drives much better than the Pilot

yeah I don't know why nobody makes a boxy looking SUV/crossover anymore
Watching the Pathfinder change was unreal
Jeep or someone else should try out an updated Commander-looking vehicle. I'd love it.

Traded it in for a 1993 Toyota Celica GT. Looks sick, dude. I'm driving it right now actually as I post here. frick hold on I spilled my daiquiri.

Your opinion on this is horrendous, like the way the Pilot used to look. fricking ugly then and ugly now.

I have always preferred the looks of the Pilot but this current generation Highlander edges it out IMO. Statistically, the Toyota will have better reliability. Also if you plan on buying the highest trim levels similar to what you showed in your pictures you should also be cross-shopping the RX and MDX where I would also recommend the RX based on reliability. Long term the interior materials tend to stand up better on Toyota products than Honda BUT it is more evident in the Lexus vs Acura product lines. The Pilot does have a small advantage in 3rd row room/comfort and also has more cargo room but the Highlander gets better gas mileage.
This one is close enough to just buy what you like, but for the first time in the history of the comparison, I would pick the Highlander on both head and heart scales.

Highlander looks less like a minivan. That gets my vote.

Think you got Stockholm syndrome for the freight container you came here in
Love you Sabi

Wife has a '15 pilot and loves it. Can't really go wrong with either of those.

Either vehicle is a good choice.
Capitalism is a wonderful thing.
If space were a big deal for me and had to only choose from these two, Honda.
Otherwise, personally, I'd probably go Highlander.

We got a highlander. 2 kids and leave 3rd row down most of the time. It works fine

I think the Pilot has more room for the 3rd row and behind it, b/c there's less room for the 2nd row when compared to the Highlander.
There is a lot of room for the 2nd row passengers in the highlander.
That being said, there's no wrong choice here. I'd go with whoever gives you the best deal.

These are the new minivans without being called minivans because minivans have a stigma.
Minivans are far more useful than these though.

My wife had older body style MDX. She moved to a new Highlander and I inherited the MDX. We both like the MDX better.
After 12k miles on the Highlander, here are our issues -
the front seats are incredibly uncomfortable. no lumbar support (has it, it just sucks) whatsoever, upper back leans forward, it is just ergonomically incorrect.
It drives like crap. Hard to turn the wheel when braking hard, if accelerating hard out of a turn you'll experience severe over steer, traction on the fwd sucks.
The JBL premium sound system is complete garbage.
None of these things were issues in the old MDX. We went Highlander over Pilot because (1) we are dumb and (2) for the captains chairs to make easy 3rd row access for two kids.
The Highlander is nice, but I understand why there are so many 1-3 year old used models out there.
We did not drive the Pilot. The FWD issues may exist there too. The MDX is part time AWD then switches to FWD. Unsure if Pilot is the same way.
I can't believe I forgot - the Highlander has a noticeable exhaust drone to it, almost like we have a fart can muffler, only between certain rpms.

The current Pilot has a weird shifting thing with the transmission. We test drove both, wife went with another Highlander. She got more for less with the Highlander.

Do you mean torque steer? If you do mean over steer then you and your wife must have mastered the Scandinavian flick and if you can get the back to rotate significantly (under control) on a FWD Highlander all I can say is
While torque steer is nowhere near as bad in cars as it used to be the increase in horsepower over the years has kept it alive, and without the smart differentials in some of the more "race oriented" small FWD sports cars it will be there, some people are more bothered by it than others usually based on how much experience you have been forced to develop over the years. Honestly, these vehicles are well served with AWD which produces a safer more stable drive like you see in the MDX.

we have owned both. I'm not sure if the pilot offers 2nd row captain seats or not but we ordered our highlander that way. both 2nd row seats can move forward and back. I have sat in the 3rd row several times and it is not bad for a short trip.
no trouble out of either brand for us. The pilot had a trailer hitch and the highlander does not, I am sure that is an option for either one. other than that they were fairly similar if you ask me.

I have literally none of these problems with mine. It has 11k miles. It's a limited. Drives well. Brakes well. Very comfortable front seats with perforated leather. Tons of room in second row--so much so that at 6'2" I can have my twins sit behind me in the biggest fricking car seats made in America. Drives quiet. I think the sound system is fine and I love the connectivity it has through Bluetooth. Admittedly, I don't listen to much music.
Literally none of the problems you listed.
