The only ones I found that were somewhat comfortable were Top Hand and Tri star. Ariat was horrible

Absolutely. The problem is that people don't account for width well enough. Most boots are cut narrow to standard width. But a good pair of EE boots becomes really comfortable after about a month of regular wear.

I wear mid hikers, no worry about breaking in or walking around in high heels.

What's wrong with On Clouds? I never heard of them my wife got me a pair and they are really comfortable.
