If you are a riverboat pilot or “a business partner” to a riverboat pilot (ie another riverboat pilot) or know a riverboat pilot’s CPA…

You are already assigned to even float number and a LA state politician’s handler.

Beads by the Dozen
There were multiple people (myself included) whose beads were not completely loaded. The front office did not care. One guy did get an "I'm sorry" in an email response, so there's that. I haven't heard a response yet. I will no longer purchase beads through the Krewe.

There is a waiting list to join. Like a few others have said, you need to know someone. Better to know someone with pull too. Someone who has been in the Krewe for at least 10 years. Preferably someone who is a Float Lt.

It is hard to get to get. Also see if someone is not riding and become a substitute rider.

Dues run about $2K and that will include Endymion throws but not a lot. Have the option to buy more from the club or somewhere else. Beads by the Dozen is owned by someone in the Krewe and get a discount on throws. Typical to spend around $1200 to $2K extra. Also depends on how much you want to throw.

It’s fun for a while. I rode for about 10 years but stopped after we startedd having kids. shite got expensive because I am out of state and was paying flor flights and hotels. My brothers are still riding. They have been doing it for about 25 years

The same as the others usually. Knowing someone or being a legacy

To the world outside of Louisiana, these Mardi Gras groups seem to be a post college or non-college version of a fraternity. I keep seeing titles on this board and wondering what the heck they are talking about before remembering Mardi Gras. Did you hear about the KA’s? The SAE’s have the best parties, well I’ve got a friend that is a Delta and ……..

Yes. They are social clubs or societal clubs in large part. Professional connections as well as social connections.

It is my primary reason for riding in Houma. Especially in a small town you get to know a lot of people

Not really....

I know people who were not accepted.

A friend rode awhile back. I believe the figure he was spending at the time was 10K.

You'd be surprised at how few boobs you see and how many of those you wish you didn't see. I thought I was a "they're all unique like snowflakes and I want to see them all" until I rode in Mardi Gras.
