Some vintage brands you can only really get used.

For women I think it’s fine… they wear something like 2-3 times then get bored with it. They sell it on facebook groups.
But for guys, who for the most part wear staples until they’re worn out. Hard pass for me.

How does the OT feel about used clothes?
I have never been in a thrift store in my life. However, I don’t have a problem with used clothes, if they are in decent shape.

Like they say, everybody drives a used car.

I purchase most of my casual clothes off poshmark. I generally buy higher end brands and you can save a bundle on most. The majority are like new. Just wash them. I think it’s foolish to pay full price when I can buy them for a fraction of the new price. I’ll get an $80-100 linen shirt for $10-12.

I wouldn't be opposed to it, if I didn't have a phobia about possibly wearing dead people's clothes. It just always crosses my mind.
There are some really nice consignment shops with great bargins....but I can't do it.

I’m just not gonna do that.
That grosses me out.
I’m sure it’s fine and ok to do but i just can’t do it

Goodwill and other thrift stores have items that have tags on them, as in never been worn.

Used, sure. Dead folks...nope
Dead folks clothes are often donated. What's the problem?
My dad died in his PJs and they went with him to the cremation.

If you buy from stores, chances are something’s been tried on anyway.
I make enough money to buy whatever but thrift stores are still my first choice. Just wash it good.

I worry if it came from a filthy house or a filthy person - Can't do it. And what if that person had some f@cked up skin condition. Too many unknowns for me.

Smart question…I teach budgeting…make sure the basics in your life are secure, then save a nest egg for incidents (car problems, appliance problems), then..with money left decide splurges…

She will once or twice a year bring me a bag of shirts, polos, button downs that she picked up for cheap. Often times they still have new tags on them.

I shop at a local Platos Closet.
Pecanland Mall area?
My kid couldn't find anything worthwhile.
But it's a lot like buying used CD's at a thrift shop.
Sometimes one might stumble across someones entired donated collection and find some good Telarc, Delos, Nimbus titles and sometimes junk.

I bought a wool Filson jacket in like new condition for about 20% of what it would cost brand new. I wear the piss out of it.

My favorite blazer in the closet came from the thrift store. It’s a crimson cashmere by Hart Schaffner Marx. Can’t remember the name but has the tag of a local haberdashery in Columbus, MS on the inside of it.

As a child, when the hand-me-downs arrived from our neighbor's granddaughters (whose dad was a Doctor $$$$) I got first dibs, and then other cousins got choices. Hand me downs were wonderful. Thrift shops in rich cities (Tulsa) were also really good, the ones in Atlanta seem to think too highly of themselves.
