Our Wisconsin experience:
Six of us took Uber XL back from dinner to our hotel in Galleria area. Asked if he was working during and after our game; he was. Gave him a nice tip and asked if he would pick up our group of six. He said $60. Done.
Driver and I checked in with each other on game day. He was waiting outside of our gate by one of the pedestrian bridges.
Sitting in hotel bar 15 minutes after the game clock hit :00.
??????
Profit.

I went 6 miles and it was $58. It was x2.75. No warning beforehand either.
Screw that.
You're making shite up, when you request a ride in a surge zone a box pops up in big bold letters telling you about the surge, and breaks down the rates with the surge you can either click accept or there is an option that will tell you when the surge is over...when you click accept another box pops up asking you to type in the surge amount to confirm you understand and to make sure you're not that shitfaced.

As far as comparing it to taxis, the only advantages I've seen so far is the GPS tracking and a nicer car. The prices aren't much different than the cabs
well there is wait time. that's a pretty big factor.

I think I'll have times when Uber comes in handy, and times when I call a cab.
I called a cab Friday night because I was sitting in Bulldog, considering going home, needed to close my tab and use the restroom and say bye to friends.
Cab got there before I was even ready and it was $6.
I used Uber walking home from Fred's because it was 1am, I was hammered and needed to be home ASAP, and I knew they'd be there immediately.
I still think $21 for what would cost me a few dollars is a bummer, but I see where it's worth the increase for speedy rides.
I'll use both.

Like the wait time I had on that Monday night?
There were no cars after 10pm. I checked Uber from 10pm to 1am while at the poolhall and not one car was available. Obviously Uber is a better service, but it isnt that far ahead of the cab service, yet

well yeah saturday of an lsu game is expensive. i dont think anyone is denying that but what do you expect? I've never even seen a yellow cab in the area of LSU on gamedays.

I've used in on Saturday nights (not gameday) and Wednesday nights so far.
Saturdays it was 10 minutes to and from. Wednesday it was 6 minutes to, 4 minutes from. A cab company could never even dream of those times. Hell it takes 4 minutes just to finish talking to the switchboard.

That's why I was asking earlier if cab rates increase on LSU game nights

yeah they sent an email out saying there would be surge pricing. They also have a no pickup zone due to contraflow. The zone ends around the tigerland area.

i still dont see why yall knight for cab companies.
and for your example of course a blind squire finds a nut sometimes. Remember the few years Reggie was still active when you scheduled classes online. If was faster than refreshing a browser 1000 times before getting an open slot. Does that mean the Reggie is better? Of course not.

i mean that could be over 20 minutes. just saying she didnt say anything about how long it took, just that they came before she was ready.

jeez, i said that uber was better. we will be using both.
and the OT is hard to trust when it comes to the cab service. it goes both ways.
i think we can all agree that Uber is better overall.

i do agree. uber now is also better than uber two months ago. its growing at a pretty good rate. you said you didnt see a car on monday. well when it first started there were a ton of nights during the middle of the week where cars werent available. those instances you had are becoming less and less.
