We get together at least 5-6 times/year. Usually deer season and holidays. I live 450 miles away from most of them. Another brother lives 850 miles away. He’s with us 2-3 of those times.

I come from a very small family that have all passed on. Now just stuck with bunch of bipolar inlaws. Every time those idiots get together, a Jerry Springer show breaks out

This is a thing that couples should talk about before marriage imo. Some people have to see their parents every day and talk to them multiple times per day, siblings too.

Parents - twice a year roughly, until recently. They haven't got a lot of time left so now I try to see them once a month or so (airline flight). One brother on the same schedule since he lives in the same city. Other brother (much further) 2-3 times a year.

Wife's family - not enough after she died. They did have a reunion last year that was fun. Good south Louisiana people, mostly, but now spread all over the country.

Our mobile culture has advantages and is a challenge at the same time.

Not as much as I want to. Not as much as I should.

I need to see my brother more. He’s less than 15 minutes away. It’s sickening how little I see him.

I would say we are close in that we love each other and hold each other in high regard, we've never fought or argued as adults, but we don't hang out like best buds. I see my siblings four or five times a year, my cousins at funerals. We are spread over a four state area.

I see my parents twice a year. Maybe 3 times but usually not. But I speak with them on the phone almost every day.

Parents every month or two, sister every 2-3 months. But we're pretty close all the same.

Very rarely beyond that. I probably haven't seen an aunt/uncle/cousin in 4-5 years. No bad relationships, our immediate family was always just a little silo'd off. On one hand, we're a lot more successful/educated/stable than the rest. On the other, I feel some guilt about having little involvement with my extended family.

Deliberate and purposeful, min once per month. Usually 2X per month.

Nothing is more important than family.

Life is short.

Most holidays.

I don’t go out to my dads because my step moms daughters with their kids go over there all the time. They’re kind of ppl who show up because he has a range, pool, and utvs. They’re trash. I see him around town, or he will stop by here.

Sucks but I spend most of my time with my family, wife and kids. I like that anyways.

I make it a point to talk to my mom and dad at least once a week and see them at least every other week. I see my one brother who lives in town at least once a week, and my brother who is out of state once a year. Most of my mothers family has passed. I was close with a lot of my cousins, aunts and uncles growing up. Not so much anymore as we have our own family’s and have moved all over.

I see my parents and sister at least once a week. The problem is my sister sees my parents at least three times a day, so I constantly get the guilt trip from my parents “well we haven’t seen the kids since Tuesday.” I need to send them this thread.
