I moved out at 18 to go to college, moved back in after I graduated at 23 to save up, moved out when I got married at 25. Worked out pretty well.

Had to recently move back in for a little over 2 months when I was relocating cities, and it just about drove me insane by the end of it. Couldn't imagine living with them from the time I graduate until 32. That sounds like hell.

Really wasn't bad, if you knew my parents you would understand.... They were more like roommates... Their house was paid for, and I often helped with groceries and other things... My Dad loved it because whenever he needed his half gallon of Absolute, I usually made the run for him, and paid for it...

Like I said, I had no siblings living there, so obviously I had my own room and bathroom...

I was able to save for a nice down payment on my first house, and I already had all the toys I wanted....

I had the car running at high school graduation and never went back
love my parents and my father and I are in business together but it was time for me to go

I cannot imagine a male of college age or older wanting to live with their parents. it is a failure and nobody will ever convince me otherwise

If I didn't have my own family I'd have no problem living with my parents and helping out around the house. My dad has some serious health issues so i'm sure he'd love the help.

The horrible grammar of your post and vagueness as to when you bought your first home makes me not believe you.

I remember the date, time and location of my first closing like my anniversary.

Just say you still live at home...no one is judging.

I think the proper age is ... mind your own business.

I moved out a year after college at 25 when I bought a house.

Successfully made it to this point without my parents paying for much other than my first vehicle.

So I think the answer varies greatly. Graduated high school with no plans of more education? Get a job and get out ASAP. Paying your own way through college? A year after graduation.

I screwed around too much my first two years out of high school and got a DUI. Currently residing with my parents at 21 while I deal with this DUI and get back in school.

It's not the worst thing ever. Had a bit of a drinking problem, it's helped me get that area of my life in order while saving up for this DUI.

Got a buddy who is 35 who has lived with his mom about half the time since he was 30. Father passed away years ago.

Went over to his mom's house the for the first time 2 years ago. Honestly, dunno why he would ever leave now.

House is on a bay, 3 stories and about 8 bedrooms. Has kick arse wrap around balconies on the third floor where his bedroom, two others, a den, and 2 bathrooms are. Mother is somewhere on the middle floor. Downstairs is two more bedrooms, a den, an entertainment room, full kitchen and three bathrooms.

I was like holy frick, I would never leave. Could probably go days without even running into his mom there.

It depends on the reason. If you have a decent job in an affordable city, I'd say you don't have much of an excuse.

I moved back in with my parents when I was 24 because I had to relearn to walk and had to quit my first job out of college because of that. I don't feel too guilty about that because I had no real choice. But it was only temporary and I contributed while home.

Id say moving back home is pretty common here and there are two types.

A: Works and is fairly successful young professional but can't afford a house yet in my community (average house is 600k) and the only other option is a ghetto 20 miles away and don't want to deal with that shite

B: College Dropout kayak instructor who wants to start a band

Depends what the situation is. I lived with my dad up to age 27, made many a girl do the walk of shame in the morning. If I had to do it again, id say 25 though

I know someone who is 36 and lives with and supports his parents. He's eternally single and probably will be until they die.

Putting an age on this is dumb. I know someone who spent over 7 years finishing their bachelor's. They had cancer and multiple surgeries and lived with their parents the whole time.

It doesn't matter what age. Being personally responsible has nothing to do with living with your parents.

I signed a 18 year contact with my kids. I give a 4 year extension with a 5th year team option if successfully applying themself to furthering their education.
