You went to a public university. Govt gives grants to public university yet still students pay for this service? Govt funded pork research is more important than university education that is increasing at a rate faster than anything else. Shits weird. Especially when you factor in all the endowment money. And 1200 a semester in books. Wtf. College is a GD racket. Hell I had a teacher whose required book was one she had written. 150 bucks for something that was in a 3 ring binder. I don't blame her for her side hustle but that's ridiculous almost embezzlement if you consider that some students are getting govt funds to pay for these things and she is making a requirement to buy her book about marketing 101.

Paid off the undergraduate education for two children, graduate education for one of them. No loans. No debt. And this is what I get for being responsible.
You got 2 children who haven’t put their life on hold to try and pay off predatory student loans.

“President Joe Biden plans to announce his plan for forgiving student debt for some borrowers Wednesday afternoon, which includes forgiving $10,000 for borrowers who make less than $125,000 per year and extending the payment freeze one final time.“

What about all the students who just started class this week? Do their loans get written off, too?

$10k to tax paying Americans that are getting pounded by interest on Federal loans? Y'all wanna shoot a puppy
There were several threads about most of those points you bring up. This is just the latest, so there are a lot more threads today

did you remove your pointed white "cap" so you could see the keyboard while typing this?

While I understand the sentiment, it’s this kind of mentality that bloats the ever living frick out of government. Everyone wants their cut.
right and you'll find tons of people here bitching about this that gladly took their PPP and ERTC money.

im actually for this.
then again, im also for the Federal Department of Education to be completely dissolved. Tuition has gone up way too much since the universities get free money from the federal government.

Do you have to participate in that racket? No.

Personally, my issue is not with the loan forgiveness, it’s the fact that everybody who paid up front, or has already paid their loans off gets nothing. Why on earth would a salary cap be applicable here? Seems like they are rewarding the ones doing the worst and punishing those who actually made good on their college education.
I mean, I know why (buying votes) but how do they justify it themselves?
