Yesterday I would have agreed but my wife and I called it quits this morning. We are going sell an investment property and the house and GTFO. The yankees are coming, no doubt. I'll happily take their money and go find a new place. It's time. In the twenty years we have been here it has gone from sleepy, to upstart, to gentrified, to hipster, to progressive insanity. The reparations thing was the final straw.

The mountains are a great place to visit, but a crappy place to live. You get tired of constantly being in canyons.

Just out of curiosity, when a city council virtue signals with a 7-0 vote for reparations, where do you think the money is going to come from? In my world it will be from increased taxes. What does it look like on your planet?

Come across the state line to East TN. It’s still very nice (read: conservative)
I do miss the way Asheville once was but as everyone knows liberals ruin everything

Thought about a short move (Knoxville, Chattanooga, GSP, etc...) but the whole area is under assault from the yankees and the halfbacks (people who move to Florida from up north but it is too far so they move half of the way back). I think we are just going to southern Colorado, like Pagosa Springs.

Great beer in the area. Asheville is seriously liberal. The city council voted to pay repreations.

In the twenty years we have lived in the Asheville area it has all gone left. When we got here it wasn't hot by any means. Now the city is competing in the virtue signaling olympics. "Look at us! We're the first to get into the reparations business:-)!". frick it.

Thank you all for the comments. Pretty interesting debate that broke out. Have to say I loved the area and it’s amazing. I really hated leaving. Can definitely see moving somewhere around Maggie Valley in 10 years

10 years? We will already have a big, beautiful, armed wall around the area by then to keep the Bolsheviks out once the left regains power

I looked at the picture of the plantation that Scarlett lived on, Tara. That told me all I needed to know.
