I'm doing my research on the best way to import and do it without getting in any kind of trouble or getting ripped off. Anyone have any experience and/or have links to information or videos to fast track my learning process?
So you are looking for a mail order wife?

A lot of o-rings, hammer union seals, and gaskets are made in china/India
Our Mechanical Integrity policy prohibits the use of Chinese products for critical equipment. Which brings up an interesting question.. If we purchase a hammer union like in your example, it would have to come from an American manufacturer.. But if that American manufacturer used Chinese seals would it be prohibited.. The answer is, if we know that you used a Chinese o-ring/seal in the hammer union we would not accept it. And you'd no longer be our vendor..

I used to make high pressure oilfield components. Chinese steel/forgings, gaskets, fasteners, really Chinese anything was not allowed in the supply chain. It was all audited too.

You'd be surprised how many good sized flowback and wireline companies use Viton products from China. IDK if they know it's Chinese but I see the box they come in and they are the Chinese products I've seen other companies use.

I think you have enough examples here to know that you should stay away from Chinese products in regards to oilfield..

Contact either DHL or UPS to talk through all the import issues...

First off, I wouldn't import anything unless you absolutely know and trust someone on the other side of the pond. If you don't know anyone, go with some site like DHGate that will not release money until you have what you ordered and you are happy with it. Start very small. Increase slowly if you like the price and quality.
For China, it is always best to remember that the national sport is ripping other people off. Always watch your back.

I import glass from China. I go through a broker. There are tons of them out there for each industry. Don't try to do it yourself. Pay someone to do it for you.

And not know how to do this?
Now, being serious, if the LA Dept of Commerce is worth a shite, they will offer Import/Export seminars for manufacturers and wholesalers based in the state. I have been to several offered in SC for my previous job. Tedious, but informative.

Tough to compete against the China shite valves flooding the market? India is the safer bet while staying competitive.
Best bet is to find an independent distributor for the cheap shite or try to work directly with a sales rep that your target brand has in the area.
I would help, but I also don't wanna get fired for my TD post history. I'm in the business, MFG side.

Well, I know no iron can be imported from Russia or China, or that's what the rule was a year ago

If you don't have someone in those countries that you trust and is looking out for you and your company. It will probably not go as smoothly as you think.

Nah it means I started this business with my younger brother. He has more of the supply side experience and I invested plus help out part time. I'm a mud engineer working a 14/14 schedule and help out more when I'm off but can do stuff like this while at work. The goal is for us to grow it enough for me to quit my current job. We were there before COVID and technically still there now but would like to pick up a few more steady accounts before I take the plunge full time.
