I think there is a very good chance the officer froze. My point is this:

1. We should wait until all the facts come out

2. Even if he did freeze, he still isnt the bad guy here. But, we will ruin his life with internet autonomy by attacking him from all angles. He failed to do his job, but I have sympathy for him as running into a building with someone firing a gun has got to be terrifying, and as a 60 year old school cop this wasnt what he was ready for. I understand, and am ready to be called a pussy cuck

I bet you feel tough now?

Maybe tough enough to eat your own full meal tonight and not split it?

He was receiving payment to do what he failed to do and is due to receive a lucrative retirement. His entire service is essentially a farce. He wanted the money and glory but not the risk.

Where do you people come from? He wanted the glory of being a school cop?

What if there are multiple attackers? Go after one and leave the school?

Exactly. I know we are off tangent, but leaving the school would def not be protocol

If you are an adult with a gun, you have got to actively seek out the shooter. Period.

Ok. I think I am 100% correct protocol would not have a resource officer leave campus

At the end of the day he's still a police officer.

If he actually saw with his own eyes some dude going down the street shooting people, you think his protocol would be to NOT engage and stay at the school?

That's not logical...at all.

There is no way in hell that I am going to let a legitimately clever comment get buried in this internet catfight. Outstanding work.

Unlike the SRO, nothing gets past me on my watch. No sir.

So it is logical to chase a guy off campus, and leave the school completely unprotected from the other shooter if there is one? Remember, you arent going to know the number of shooters

If there is a shooting being reported near a school, as a parent, I dont want my school cop leaving the premises

Unless he ran to the football field, he's still a pussy. How can you not figure out where the shots are coming from?

If he had eyes on a shooter(with no other reports of another shooter at the school) literally shooting people off campus?

Uhh...yea, that would be only the most logical thing in the world to do.

And if your wife and kid are walking out of the retail outlet across the street, as a parent, you'd want that cop to do something and not just sit and watch.

Exactly. You are damned in so many scenarios as a cop

Possibly. If they are advanced enough to coordinate the killing and lure the officer away, there is not much you can do about that. I am not talking about running down the road because of a call on the radio. I am talking about an illegal activity adjacent to the school grounds.

Of course, in this officers case, you could just lay a mannequin out in the soccer field and he would hide behind a car all day.

That is why school security needs to be addressed. When you "lock down" a school, it should be inaccessible.

One thing that 87 is correct about is that with the size of some of these schools, one officer to guard a huge campus is not realistic.

Just yanking your chain, but you'd think that if you have in fact accepted your own mortality, then you wouldn't be nervous and would essentially be at peace if your life was taken.

You were robbed or what?
