Isn’t it weird New Orleans and Orleans Parish are pronounced differently? Makes you think.

And it's the whole county like New Orleans is

Jacksonville is a consolidated city-county like New Orleans is a consolidated city-parish

I remember hearing that New Orleans East wanted it’s own separate city. Could you imagine the corruption of that city if it existed?

well, there was a time when new orleans east could have been the "Central" of Orleans parish.

But it's not.

Duval County has four cities in it:

Atlantic Beach
Jacksonville
Jacksonville Beach
Neptune Beach

Jacksonville has a population of 954,614 and Duval County has a population of 999,935.

This is not analogous to New Orleans/Orleans Parish. Close but not exactly.

You're the one acting like he discovered plutonium because New Orleans and Orleans Parish have the same boundary.

Think of it as a random tailgate discussion after having 4 beers.

The village of Tangipahoa is in Tangipahoa Parish.

It's the crown jewel of that area. Only the best trailers allowed.

Consolidated governments are usually unique, and vary slightly from one to another.

Lafayette and EBR are also consolidated, but have separate smaller cities within the parish. Duval county is the same way.

These smaller communities within a larger consolidated county/parish maintain various degrees of autonomy depending on the specifics of the consolidated government. Some have their own mayor, police force, school district, etc.

New Orleans is unique because the city encompasses the entire parish. There aren’t any other incorporated cities or communities, or unincorporated areas within the parish.

Not even close. Lafayette Parish has Lafayette, Scott, Duson, Carencro, Broussard, and Youngsville.
