So it should fall due to gravity, but these things overpower gravity?
Yes.
Colder air sinks because of gravity and it isn't as buoyant as warmer air. There's a point where buoyancy differences can overcome gravity, which is how you get thunderstorms. The colder air, after being lifted and cooled by the adiabatic expansion falls back to earth with the rain/hail/snow that was condensed out.
quote:
Once it gets high enough these phenomena cease in significant amount and gravity can pull it back?
Once it gets high enough it runs into the tropopause. This is where the stratosphere starts, which is warmer than the air below it because of the reaction that makes ozone due to solar radiation at that level. So then it's gonna want to fall through the warmer air.
quote:
Is that the premise?
When trying to quantify these buoyancy differences, we use a formula to find the convective available potential energy. Gravity is a piece of that equation, because it is pulling down on our air parcel.

I already have

What's you main gnawing befuddlement on Satellites on a Flat Earth?

Ohhhh buddy, don't even get me started on this! How about how those damn radars are producing the storms? Huh? The government making weather just like they make the damn fake birds.

I'll give it you. That was much better than Google.

Careful, Duke is educated by the Illuminati. Don't trust a word that arsehole says.

I would not expect any flat earther to have one ounce of knowledge in fluid mechanics

Oh well the app and the forum proves it. Actual snipers say they don't.
You have presented no evidence that snipers do not use Coriolis. The fact that the vast majority of sniper shots are WELL inside 1,000m means on the kill zone of a man target it isn't that important. Snipers have the luxury of not worrying about tiny differences in a 500m shot, competitive shooters do not. That being said I guarantee Coriolis is included in sniper ballistics calculators and their DOPE cards/books. Talk to some ELR shooters and they would literally laugh at you arguing Coriolis doesn't matter. Since you are all about gathering knowledge try going to Gunwerks Long Range University, they actually have a range set up to specifically show shooters Coriolis so you could actually experience the effect of the round earth you live on.
quote:
Coriolis Stage
To help students understand the Coriolis Effect and how it affects bullet flight, they set up a stage with two identical targets at exactly 1100, but one was due south and the other was due east. You start by engaging the southern target, and spotters help you find the perfect elevation adjustment to center your shot on the bullseye. Then you’ll immediately turn and shoot a group on an identical target at the same distance due east. Your impact will likely be high on the east target (4-5” high with the cartridges we were using). This variance in trajectory is due to the fact that you’re shooting from one point to another on a rotating sphere (the Earth). While 4-5 inches at 1100 yards is relatively minor, you can see the difference. So this exercise helps students understand that Coriolis Effect is a real thing and can be predicted and accounted for, but it also teaches them the relative magnitude so if they hear a buddy tell a story about a bullet sailing over a trophy elk at 700 yards because he forgot to think about Coriolis … you likely shouldn’t take advice from that person. This stage drove the point home that when trying to make first shot hits on small targets at extended ranges, you may want to consider the Coriolis Effect. I’m not sure how many places on earth have a setup that allow you to see this phenomenon so clearly.
Precision Rifle
This link explains Coriolis in terms of long-range shooting and specifically separates out the Eotvos effect which most shooters just lump into Coriolis. Eotvos is the vertical component whereas Coriolis is the horizontal component, both caused by a spherical Earth.
Arms Guide
quote:
Do they adjust for curvature? At 1000m there is about a foot of downward curvature according to the geometry. At 3000m almost 3 feet.
Curvature is negated almost completely by gravity, it pulls the bullet closer to the center of the earth as it flies. Bullet drop takes into account the effect of curvature along with gravity it is a 2 for one calc. What you find on a sphere Earth is slightly less bullet drop than you would find on a flat Earth of the same mass.

Why does it take 6:10 to fly NYC to LA, but only 5:25 to fly LA to NYC?

Of course not. It can’t be flat and hollow at the same time and we all know that’s where the dinosaurs went.
What if it's like a box? We live on top Dinosaurs live inside.

I've gone through too many pages of this thread and I'm really disappointed with the quality of the globehead cringe memes. Hit me up - I've got the good stuff.
I hear ya. My reaction to the overnite results were also cringe. Once the special-ed trolls took over, it was a Scorched Earth situation.
Problem is -- even if you are loaded for bear (thanks), this group is like pigeons sh***ing on a chessboard. There is no greater indoctrination than THE GLOBE. Plus many are happier dwelling in bliss. And...unless info is in simple meme-photo form presentation, it gets wasted. Vids aren't watched, sites aren't accessed at links. Thread info isn't read. The ADD on top of Stockholm Syndrome...it is what it is.
The only way any "good stuff" works is by starting all over on a new FE dedicated thread. This is the problem; Truth is not a big deal. And in many senses, FE appears to be construed much the same as many feel as if they are being asked to change their "religion." NASA = real "church." (who knew?) NASA/Space has become real a "religion" as any faith can be in God.

You flat earthers still can't explain how Alaska and the north pole have months of sunlight vs. darkness while the areas south of them have normal days and nights, if the sun were just rotating around a flat plane.
This is something you can literally observe for yourself by traveling to Alaska or even watching webcams. The same can be said for watching webcams around the world and matching the angles of shadows of the sun.
It's very easy to prove the earth is round while sitting on your arse on your phone or computer, unless you think millions of people are in on the lie; including scientists and astronomers through hundreds of years of history. Some of which are - GASP - christians. Some of which are not.
Why would they all "be in" on the lie?

It's hard to imagine a more fundamental lie and can be so easily disproven by our own optics. It would unravel everything. This place is pretty awesome to let it go as long as they did. Everywhere else censors the hell out of it

Before I get back to work, I got a question for you.
Can you explain to me why low pressure systems spin clockwise south of the equator and counter-clockwise north of the equator without there being rotation and curvature of the earth?
Posted on 4/12/22 at 6:21 pm to Duke
I believe the answer is refraction. Am I doing this right?
