When I was little, I thought the saying was, "End's Meat" and I thought it had something to do with 'just enough meat to get by'... I knew what it meant contextually, but was surprised to see it written out.
Used to think the exact same thing and to be honest "ends meat" makes sense as well.

"Dignified" means $400k+ home, new 4 wheel drive King Ranch F-350 every two years for the dad, new Honda SUV every two years for mom, private school tuition for the kids, season tickets to LSU football, eating out three nights a week, and professional landscapers taking care of your yard every week of the year. Just the basics really.
Minus the frequent new vehicles, I kind of agree.

yep, and I'll bet the phone, internet, and TV are running about $400-$450/mo., but gotta to have that!
I think your # is a little high but you honestly do need at least a cell and the internet these days if you have any kind of professional job.

You probably do need a cell phone but definitely not a smart phone with a data plan. I also don't have internet, but my building has free internet in the common areas and I'm able to pick it up in my condo.

yep, that's high, I was adding up mine and it's more like $275/mo. for everything, and I think that's high, but does every kid need an iphone, ipad, unlimited data, and have their nose stuck in the phone every waking moment?

I couldn't do my job without a smart phone and internet at home, there is no way. All of my utilities including internet and DirecTV are included in my HOA.

New Orleans and Lafayette were ranked the first and second areas with the highest cost of living.
Both quotes taken directly from the article.
Writer's mistake. New Orleans 1
Baton Rouge 2, Lafayette 3- but only by $7.00 according to the study.

Thanks! I just need to bust my arse and get my CPA. Then I'll have the certification to go along with my specialized knowledge. Not that I would be looking to leave at that point, but it's nice to know I'll be a valuable little mofo in the accounting side of the O&G Industry.

I made the same this past year, no kids and I live paycheck to paycheck basically. I have like $7 in my savings.

CPA's and lawyers are probably the only ones to not get laid off when oil prices go down, got to deal with all of the bankruptcy issues
