Ms. Allison was a great teacher. I didn't realize how strong the Jesuit English department was until I attended LSU. Needless to say, our fellow BlueJay alums were light years ahead of others when it came to writing papers and understanding grammar rules.

Powers and Alexander were good teachers. I can't say the same about Prados.
I seem to recall a teacher in the English department inviting the wrath of the administration by openly mocking the motivational posters that Fr. Thompson placed around the school. Not sure if he was fired or just received a severe lecture.

I know Mike Prados and his siblings/parents for half a century.

Perhaps he improved over time. It may have been his first or second year of teaching.

I was there when the math department had stalwarts like Coates and Metzinger.
I had Metz and Coates in 9th and 10th grades.
Metz was one of my favorite teachers at Jesuit.

Does anyone remember Mr.Martinez (Father Martinez)? He was still a scholastic when he was at Jesuit in the late 80's, but later became a parish priest.
Junior year he made us do TERM PAPERS for THEOLOGY and I think he sent half the class to summer school (for THEOLOGY)- I was happy to get a D.
He was from Cuba and had defected (fled) to the United States and became an actor- in soap operas, and had even been on Three's Company and Different Strokes.
Sometime in the mid-90's they found him stabbed to death in a French Quarter hotel room- the male prostitute who was believed to have murdered him committed suicide (at least thats what I heard) and they never officially solved his murder.

So you were part of the class full of girls that couldn't remember tuck in their shirts, wear their nametags, or figure out math? And then you decided, oh can't be our fault, has to be the school being too mean to us, so lets cry and get the hard teachers fired. Got it.

Br. McDonnell and Mr. Dover from old school Holy Cross beg to differ. More than one major error and two minors and you're done.

Is this supposed to be impressive? I tested out of all English required for my major (3 classes, one of which was a 3000 level) just based off my ACT score.
ETA: I just realized this post reads a little harshly. It's not meant that way, I promise

Its also on the parents -- who figured that it just couldn't be that their kid was playing too much angry birds instead of homework or studying, or the parents who have decided that their precious Jimmy could never have his feelings hurt.
The whole decision made me sick.
