You know how I know this wasn't in BR/NOLA? You'd be rolling around the parking lot, gutshot. If the perp was arrested, he'd be back out within 48 hours to throw more shite in the HD parking lot.

In a state with so many problems, I’d put this habit near the top of the list on what’s keeping us down. I hate how you know you’re almost home to South Louisiana from a vacation when you start seeing trash all along the side of the road. This state could literally be a natural paradise if people just cared a little…

Just let it go, even though it pisses me off. It's not worth getting shot or assaulted over.

your lucky he didn't just shoot you - it sucks, but at some point it isn't worth approaching someone.
this is true in general but much less likely at a home depot or lowes. most thugs that are willing to kill someone don't know anything about work, so why would they be at Home Depot?

I was at a Walgreens and watched this women throw out a bag of crap. I called her out and she started mf’ing me. She had a small child with her so I didn’t get into with her but I did tell her I was nominating her for mother of the year for being such a great example for her daughter.

She looked at me like I stole her weave then hauled arse.

I’ll also add, the child, who couldn’t have been more than 3 or 4 was not in a car seat or even buckled.

I go about my own business (and maybe pick it up and put in in the trash when they're gone). Some things are worth fighting over. Littering is not one of them IMHO

My confrontation a while back while I was an adjunct professor:

As I was walking down the sidewalk on the way to class I watched as a cultured lady in a Mercedez Benz opens her car door and dumps a full cigarette ashtray on the ground. She was parked illegally on the side of the road, obviously waiting for someone.

I walked over, put my backpack down, scooped up all the cigarette butts and scattered them all over her windshield. It was great.

You don't get the litter problems we have in the Deep South with just one contingent doing the damage

Trashy white dudes aren't exactly the best caretakers of communal spaces, unfortunately

Why do trashy people get rid of trash? It's a part of who they are. Easier to hoard it like I do.

A couple of years ago I pulled into my driveway which is in the middle of nowhere and looks more like a utility access road than a driveway. A local guy had pulled into the driveway to a point that trees blocked him from the road and he unloaded every bit of trash from his pickup onto the side of the driveway. In spite of the fact that he could have easily used my dumpster which was maybe 15 feet away. The first thing I did was take a photo of him with my phone (including pickup truck and license plate). Then I asked him if he was really that lazy and sorry a person. Then I lost it and used every profanity in my vocabulary. It was spectacular, I didn't know I had it in me. He apologized profusely and said he'd gotten sick and had to pull over, though that story really didn't make much sense. He promised to pick it up and never come back; and he actually did that.

Around 20 years ago I was driving up Perkins in front of the Caterie and a teenage girl got out of the car in front of us and set a fast food bag on the curb that was obviously full of trash. That set off my wife who jumped out of the car, grabbed the bag, and threw it in their open window while screaming "trashy people leave trash!". The light changed we both drove off. I'm sure that they threw it out at the first chance, but it was fun to watch.

And then there's:

Confronting someone for littering a great way to become the next homicide victim in Baton Rouge.
