Why would the sheriff...not a deputy, but THE sheriff, summarily execute the judge in this scenario?
In what world does that make ANY sense?

There's a federal civil rights case in that county by two women alleging the sexual misconduct of a deputy.

It had to be something very personal

This is a state judge though, right?
Why would THE sheriff kill a state district judge over a federal case?

Sheriff is also allegedly a Democrat in the year of our lord 2024 so I will temper my expectations for now

That would be my guess -- the judge went someplace he shouldn't have.

Judge was giving the sheriff's wife the ol' sidebar

There's a woman involved some way. I promise you that

Warmup killing. Have to get some practice and confidence at the state level before going up to the federal level.

It's all personal to the courthouse ring in a small town. Maybe the judge ruled against him on a budget request. Maybe the sheriff wants some of the judge's office space and the judge said nah. It doesn't take much. Maybe it was something salacious like people are speculating. But it doesn't have to be.
We have an ongoing feud between the DA and a (now retired) judge going back seven or eight years. I'm not even sure how it started at this point but they're still holding grudges.
