There was a time that one could argue WWL had the best local news operation in the entire country.
That title belonged to WSB here in Atlanta. John Pruitt, Don Farmer(RIP), Monica Kaufman, Glenn Burns, and Chuck Dowdle. They were the gold standard.
WWL was right up there, though.

Haven’t had cable since 2013.
You don't need cable to watch WBRZ channel 2, but I guess you look for any opportunity to tell people you got rid of cable. Congrats.

WWL was in their pinnacle in the 1980’s with Bill Elder, Garland Robinette, Angela Hill, Eric Paulsen, Nash Roberts, Jim Henderson, Chris Meyers, Don Westbrook, Andre Trevine, John Snell, Mike Longman, and the great editorialist and news director Phil Johnson.
TV station was owned by the Jesuits as an independent business and management did not let the Catholic Church dictate the business. They just used the fact that it was owned by a religious order to avoid paying taxes. I wonder if the abortion episode of Maude aired on WWL back in the 1970’s. That would have been very controversial for a semi religious TV station owner to run such an episode. That might have been the only time the Jesuits got involved.

Very informative segment.
Yeah, that's a tough situation, when you walk in a gym and don't know what to do.

To get started, it's always a good idea to have a planned workout before entering the facility. This can help avoid situations that could leave you wondering what to do when at the gym.

Before that in the late 1950's and early 1960's, WDSU was the nationwide leader in local news. Right off the top of my head, Alec Gifford was the lead reporter and several other high caliber personnel with Nash Roberts doing the weather, sponsored by JAX beer with the Mike Nichols/Elaine May cartoon commercials which were a hoot to watch.

If I recall what did WDSU in was being purchased by a national company and I think Alec left for a few years to work at NBC News and WVUE when he came back to New Orleans and was paired with Nash to take over New Orleans from WWL’s early dominance. But he ended up back at WDSU and Nash at WWL.
