Maybe it’s time for a little pressure is put on LSA to loosen some of these restrictions?
That could be done. But it's going to require collaboration between Fire, BRSC, CSC, and Mandeville since those are the clubs in the GSPL.
Go to LSA and say we are either going to be allowed to play GSPL this fall or we are not registering our clubs with the LSA this year. LSA would fold with a quickness.

It was very good for his confidence and humility. No one at school knew he’d scored game winners in the semis and finals in Daphne the day before
if he's anything like his dad, everyone knew by the end of first period

OweO-quality post right here.

They’re not in GSPL nor are they in the Midsouth conference. My son only plays league ball for the most part, outside of big regional tournaments like they hold in Birmingham.
When he played tournament soccer they played Slidell fairly often. I remember them being coached better than my son’s team...but I don’t think they ever won. Maybe once at a County Farm tournament. ETA: Nope that was the Spartans (thought they were Slidell too).

I'm thinking that LSA doesn't play LCSL until the spring. LSA has been very cautious so far. Not sure if they are following the lead of USYS or what, but it is what it is.

I agree with that. But that's devastating for local clubs who are fighting off US Club Soccer clubs who do not have restrictions.

They only pushed our GSPL games two weeks, for now. I haven’t seen the schedule on who that.’d be against, but likely an LA team since there’s a delay.

With GSPL and Mid South there really is no need to win State to play regionals. Yea, it’s nice, and the regional competition is good...but Mid South is harder. Obviously those leagues are selective, but I’m sure they love to have more teams.

We've heard nothing on GSPL in Louisiana. Any idea when the schedules will be released?

Are there that many of them around though? Obviously Texans are the newest, but looking at the list of LSA-affiliated teams I can't really think of any club out there not on the list? Or is it only teams that play in LCSL that are affected, and not the "affiliated" teams?
Affilated Clubs with LSA

I wasn't clear. What I meant was that the financial impact has already been felt by local clubs with some players already having left for other clubs. The devastating part is that existing parents will start to demand refunds. They are not paying so their kid can socially distance and pass the ball with no competitive games or full practices.

No, I understood your post, I am just curious as to what clubs around are restricted and what clubs are not? Trying to figure out who LSA has "jurisdiction" over and who they don't.
For example, a club like Jefferson Parish Soccer Academy. I'm pretty sure they don't play LCSL, or GSPL, or any of the leagues really. But they are an "affiliated" LSA club. If they have to follow the same rules as BRSC, Fire, etc., then based on the list I posted I'm having a hard time seeing how virtually every team in the state isn't having to follow those rules as well
Texans, the FC Dallas club in Shreveport, maybe the Sting now that they took over FC Galaxy. But there aren't very many teams in the state that aren't tied to LSA in some form or fashion

You are only tied into the LSA if you register with them as a club. The clubs would simply have to say "no" and join US Club Soccer. LSA would fold up shop and no longer exist.

So is US club soccer over GSPL?

The problem there is that the non-LSA competitions don't make up the bulk of the games the clubs have. IF say BRSC left LSA, then that would allow their Black teams that play GSPL, NPL, etc. to probably play those games without issue. But what happens to the Red & Maroon teams that only play LCSL? They would have tournaments and friendlies only?
It's a balancing act between making sure your top teams/players aren't short changed from their opportunities, but also making sure the balance of your teams get actual competition as well

You make some great points here regarding the lower tier teams and I’m sure that’s being considered regarding Fire as well. However, how important is LCSL competitions at the C2 level and below anyway? They really only account for five or six games a season, 10 or 12 a year. And do they really matter all that much? Seems like Friendly’s and tournaments would be enough and you wouldn’t have to play a schedule put out for you. Would also eliminate the dreaded trips to Shreveport which I’m sure the Baton Rouge teams hate just as much as the teams from New Orleans.

That’s what my son’s club had...a league team, and two tournament teams, with some kids playing both league and tournaments.
Coaches son is going to Europe to play, so that likely drops us out of Mid South. Mostly means we won’t have that league only team.
I think my son’s best shot at competition is playing a year up on a club just north of us, top 05 team in the state. Difficult to make the field there though, so he’ll have to play out of position. Says he wants to. Not sure what that means for 06 tournament play.
This is all screwy.

Other than the pathway to President's Cup and potentially Regionals/Nationals, not really. But while not the prestige of State Cup and D1, I know my kid and others like the chance to compete for Pres. Cup and potentially go play in Regionals. It wouldn't be the end of the world, but they would miss that opportunity

Yeah, that sucks arse. Not to mention we always seem to get the short end of that stick. My kid's team has traveled to play Shreveport 4 consecutive years without them returning a trip, not sure how that works out
