I directly answered your question.

Do you know how to tell which posts respond to which?

You said Tyson dodges the question of personal responsibility. You have not articulated clearly what you think the problem is.

He makes Sourh Baton Rouge sound like an all American town in the mid-west. Lulz.

I agree with some of what he said about north Baton Rouge. It's not like they just closed the only hospital there or they have reliable public transportation, huh?

North Baton Fouge is the epitome of "other side of the tracks". Is some of it self-inflicted? Certainly. is it neglected to a large degree by policies and government? You betcha.

Yes. Fortunately I have a brain. You gonna state your position or just distinguish it from his? Those are not the same thing.

Tyson was on the Jim Engster radio show thus afternoon. I don't like either one, but I listened as long as I could this evening.

Tyson was explaining how it's racist to judge a young black man in a hoodie (as being up to no good), but it's NOT racist to judge the intentions of the cops based on the color of their skin (white). His excuse is historical racism. I turned off the radio. Another ignorant race-baiter.

Do you need it spelled out for you? I directly answered your question.

You:

quote:

This one? Are you saying that North Baton Rouge's problems are the fault of the people who live there?

Me:

quote:

Yes, yes I am. If that wasn't clear enough for you, I can't help you. He was pretty clear on dismissing personal responsibility from the word Go. Hence moving the goalpost. He then went on to blame lack of adequate public transportation, malnutrition and a host of other buzz words for the plight of NBR. He refuses to have an honest conversation.

By dismissing personal responsibility, he makes the community innocent victims who have had no part in their current circumstances.

You keep repeating what HE dismisses. What are YOU saying the problem is?

Read the first paragraph, won't read the rest.
quote:

a visibly restrained man being shot at point blank range, then left to bleed to death while members of our police force picked his pockets for a gun.

How are blacks in NBR being "marginalized"? I don't get it.

How have blacks been “systematically been denied the opportunity to live in safe and stable neighborhoods”? Who is preventing neighborhoods from being safe and stable? Thanks to the federal government, blacks can move anywhere they want thanks to the fair house act and many other federal subsidy programs. Maybe Chris should look to the NBR community to solve its problems as opposed to just complaining and trying to make Baton Rouge racists.

What does Chris want? More federal and state money? More governmental programs? What's going to make NBR a "safe and stable neighborhood"? What program will make NBR citizens no longer "marginalized"?

And the closing of the only hospital? Public transportation? Do you really think NBR is not neglected? And see my post above. I am on record that some of it is also self-inflicted by the people. It's both, IMO.

The lack of personal responsibility is the main problem. Are you always this dense?

Can people who live in NBR find housing for the same rates in SBR?

I read the article. Middle class folks don't want to live by a bunch of uneducated violent poor people.

There you go. It's not a genius concept.

Agreed it's both, but not I'm equal parts. The lack of personal responsibility leads to neglect.

What about public transportation? My property taxes skyrocketed thanks to the CATS tax. Didn't that fix things? And, since when does a private business like a hospital have to continually lose money to serve a community? How long? I guess more state and federal programs are needed for NBR right?

I don't like poor uneducated people. Why is this such a bad thing in today's America?
