You must be young.
Nobody (except possibly the 1960s black nationalist crowd or something) capitalized black until the George Floyd incident. You can seriously find articles from the AP and NY Times from around 2020 saying that they were going to begin capitalizing black, which they never previously did. Of course, white still remains lowercase.

I don’t believe any of the BS. Tutors, online, etc. all BS. Fluff is the name of the game - I see it all the time.

LSU was never on the level of Berkeley, UCLA, UNC, and UVA. Nothing wrong with that, it’s just reality.
It used to be considered one of the best and biggest schools in the South. The state poured money into the school. It's a shell of its former self. If you want to avoid that main point, fine. That doesn't make it any less true.
My BS program in the 80s used to be a top 10 program in the country - public and private. By the time I was in it, it had slipped to 10-15. Now it's not even ranked. This has happened to other programs as well. Apart from a couple of programs now, the school has a terrible reputation.
The athletic endowment is bigger than the academic endowment for fricks sake. The only school in the country. It's a joke now.

You make a great point. LSU back in the day, you had to really work hard to graduate.
For some reason, people look at open admissions policies as sub-standard. Restricted admission and graduation rates are how universities are judged now. The problem with that is that there's an economic incentive for the university to graduate students. If they accept a very small pool of students, but give them all As and graduate 99% of them, that's seen as better than accepting EVERYBODY, and weeding them out through tough coursework, to where only the deserved graduate.
I prefer open admissions for public schools.

Sounds like what Florida has done for UF. It’s impressive how far they have jumped in the rankings over the last 30 years (now a top 10 public).

Also, the open warfare against the Greeks hasn't helped.

It really is. Apparently they respect higher education, whereas in Louisiana we think anything outside of a technical degree is a communist plot. History, Philosophy, Languages, Literature, Geography, hell, all the Humanities - worthless Marxism. It's really sad.

UF in now behind only Vandy in the SEC as far as academics go. They are a Public Ivy. Their football program has really dropped

Not to mention basketball. It's hard to believe they won back to back championships not that long ago. It looks like their AD has been told to concentrate on academics. I would rather see LSU as a top academic institution than winning championships in sports. Both would be nice, though.

I was taught it was grammatically correct but if it bothers you that much pretend you see a "W". See link below explaining it.
It’s the literature version of affirmative action, which you claim to not believe in.

Lsu will eventually drip out of the sec and become a losing team in 25 years.
