Everything North of Bunkie is deep south (except S'port). It is not South Louisiana, but it is 100% South. They just have bigger deer, and much bigger sacalait there than I have found in South La. I have yet to run into a woman up there I would desire to see pretend to be a mermaid though, something I have found a much larger supply of along the I-10 corridor.

That's funny... Not that you haven't heard it since, but I didn't even think you went to high school.

Awesome.

Does anyone else get annoyed when people use the word, "protein" in a culinary setting vs in a macronutrient setting?

Why tf we got a ‘union’ parish in Louisiana?

Not eating now that I spent my lunch going down a Union Parish history rabbit hole.

Here's my research

quote:

Union Parish, Louisiana, formed in 1839 from Ouachita Parish, was named for the national ideal of "Union," attracting early settlers like Baptists and Methodists seeking new homes, with Farmerville becoming the seat.

Its name is derived from the sentiment of the time – “liberty and union, now and forever, one and inseparable” (from a speech by Daniel Webster).

Its history includes early mound builders, the introduction of the South's first telephone lines by Colonel Daniel Stein, significant forestry and agriculture, and hosting events like Watermelon & Mayhaw Festivals, with prominent residents including four Louisiana governors.

Colonel Daniel Stein brought three telephones back from a trip to New York and constructed lines from his store at Stein's Bluff to Farmerville.

Early Settlement & Formation
Origins: The area was part of Ouachita Parish before the Louisiana Legislature established Union Parish on March 13, 1839, from its northern section.

Name: The name reflects the contemporary sentiment for national unity, referencing figures like Daniel Webster.

First Settlers: Early pioneers arrived in the late 1790s and 1800s, focused on establishing homes, hunting, and trapping.

hell no

If I’m going to use those candles I might as well replace the portrait above my fireplace of Robert E Lee with Useless Grant
