is this the part where you boldly tell us what you would or wouldn't do had this happened to you and your daughter?
This is the part where I tell you if it happened to my daughter, i would question how in the Hell i was such a shtiiy parent and raised a girl to be a binge-drinker with such terrible judgement and possibly zero morals.
Then if it were found they actually raped her, i would do everything in my power to see those scumbags perished.

That’s your opinion
Yes, the plaintiffs will have to prove the bar " sold " alcohol to Ms. Brooks. Presume the authorities seized a any video of that evening and if so any sales to her might be captured. It may also show others were purchasing for her. There would also be a requirement to have proof she was clearly intoxicated which would require video or personal testimony from others. Did her actions clearly stand out amongst a bunch of similar college students?
Would she be considered " harming herself" in this instance?
Interesting legal questions.

I imagine hes all about the money.
So are we flexing on poster histories? Pretty sure your whole life story is a glass house bro.

Blaming the father/family is misdirected. If you think there is a case, you have every right to file a lawsuit. If there is financial recovery for the father/family, it would be interesting to see what they do with the money.
If claims were made prior to the lawsuit, settlement attempts failed. Insurers provide and pay for their "insureds" defense by competent lawyers against all counts in the lawsuit covered by the policy. Of course a dependent may retain his/her/their own counsel as well. Insurance is all about defense and indemnification.
Has anyone here seen the suit filing? It would be interesting to read all the counts. Then we could more intelligently opine.

Didn’t she work there? Who said anything about anyone purchasing the alcohol
Someone could have been giving her shots and drinks all night long.

I may not do a great job of explaining myself but the public and pompous cast of judgement of character on both a young girl and parents whether you think are warranted or not warranted is completely classless and uncalled for in situations like this.

I believe you committing an fraudulent act and bragging about it is fair enough to question your motives here.

I'm gonna take the high road here roger and let you think you have some sort of high road point here.

That is possible. Given the law allows 18 year olds to enter the bar but not drink until 21 what duty does the bar have to aggressively monitor the ages of those who are drinking in a crowded bar.

Fair enough.
I still think its a valid comment.
I dont see how suing the uber driver is going to help his pain.

Rideshare company Lyft driver James Hayward Jr. and multiple insurance companies are also included in the suit.
Hes just wanting others to share his pain.

i've been one of the most harsh on here about the driver so you're asking the wrong person.

Their liquor license and lawsuits.

Including the Lyft driver is a piece of shite move that makes me lose some compassion for this guy.
You simply can’t have a lawsuit for these circumstances without including the person that actually struck and killed the girl.
It’s just the way liability works here. Doesn’t mean it’s their fault or they will pay, they have to be roped in.

Lyft driver is covered thru Lyft and insurance correct?

No, it's a legit question and if we were honest enough to have certain conversations, it might help prevent shite like this in the future.
If they raped her, fry them, I'll supply the electricity.
But we don't get to pretend that shitty parenting and shitty behavior don't sometimes result in very bad things happening to people.

I saw he was suing individual bartenders.
Posted on 12/4/23 at 11:24 am to JDPndahizzy
He needs to sue her, as well. She is just as responsible as those named. More, really.
Posted on 12/4/23 at 11:28 am to Proximo
Proximo, you should have posted the gif instead. A lot of people didn’t realize the reference.
Posted on 12/4/23 at 11:28 am to RogerTheShrubber
Bartenders should be defended by the bar's commercial insurer(s) and any settlements/judgements should be paid by the insurer(s) up to the policy limits.
