And the fertilizer companies that protected the crop. And the municipality that provided the water to irrigate the crop. And the petroleum companies that provide the fuel for the Lyft driver and the tractors. And on and on and on.
Add Dylan Mulvaney to that list as well

The driver was named in the lawsuit, although law enforcement cleared him of wrongdoing. Two other good Samaritans pulled over and tried to assist Madison while the driver was on the phone with 911.
Kinda surprised he’s not going after the Good Samaritans as well

I'm pretty sure the police determined the Lyft driver did nothing wrong.
Did he submit a breathalyzer or a blood test?

Neat, now explain how Lyft the company should be "reasonably" responsible in any way besides having the deepest pockets.
They employed the driver that hit her.... Thats it... it is that difficult?

Doesn't Fred's do some kind of family night thing at the beginning of the semester for Greeks?
Yes, but Fred's is a bar that caters itself to those types of events. Reggies was a shithole filled with lots of trashy people who were in no way affiliated with LSU. Not a place where a student would usually bring their mom and dad into, or a place that a parent should want to be.

He put in the qualifier 'directly' though.
Seems to be a disconnect where they think going after the insurance somehow doesn't result in more money coming out of my pocket
It doesn’t even register with them how or why it is fricked up on a human level to sue the Lyft driver.
It’s just “oh well obviously you gotta sue the Lyft driver.”

From a WAFB article
quote:
An East Baton Rouge Parish grand jury has returned a “no true bill” against the driver accused of hitting LSU student Madison Brooks, resulting in her death.
It means the driver is cleared of any charges. The driver remained at the scene of the crash and showed no signs or evidence of being impaired, according to deputies, The driver was facing a charge of negligent homicide.

It's no different than if a Yellow Cab or United Cab hit a pedestrian or another vehicle, or if a RTA bus ran someone over......the lawyers are going after those companies and their insurance companies.
It's not that hard to understand

You are wrong from a legal perspective.
What if it goes to Trial, and the Jury or Judge puts 100% fault on the Lyft Driver after all evidence is presented?
The lawyer representing him would be sued for malpractice.
Ultimately, this is the overarching reason outside of deep pockets or any pockets. When you have a case where multiple people/entities could be apportioned fault you have to name them all. If you do not then all the ones you do will point their finger at the one(s) that are not party to the suit. If the trier of fact believes them then you lose and while you can file suit against them later if you haven't let the SOL run then that entity will point their finger at all the ones that you filed against first. It is just like if the wife is a passenger and her husband is driving and a third party hits them and causes the wife serious injuries even if everything points to the third party as being at fault the wife still sues the husband as well as the third party.
If it goes to trial it will be a hard one for her family. The defense will hammer the daughter (as best as they can without turning off the jury) because she certainly has some culpability at various points in this whole ordeal. IMO and IME these types of relatively complex death cases are ripe for arbitration.

So ….. let’s see…. She goes to a local bar underage and drinks until see can barely walk…. Four dudes convince her to get into a car… they drive a ways ( knowing what they were gonna do.) and then repeatedly raping her…. She then gets dropped off on a hiway. Innocent driver just minding his own biz ends up hitting a person in the street…. And they are trying to sue driver of car?????? I’m gonna get smashed over this but it sure sounds like this driver did nothing wrong……

I believe it's a private event.....My son's frat is doing their Alumni and Parent Social at a bar downtown, it's a private event......not sure if that matters or how Freds does it

This ought to be a thread

Likely just going to use threats/leverage to get them to testify against servers and the establishment who knew she was underaged and served her.
Should each employee go out and get their own personal representation in a situation like this? I assume that there would be conflicts of interest with Reggie's insurer providing representation since some employees could end up testifying against the business and/or other employees.

Seems like the general idea from our resident lawyers on here is to just sue everyone.
As a whole, only lobbyists and politicians are scummier pieces of shite than lawyers. This thread (and the plaintiff's lawyer) just help reinforce that.

Yes. I wouldn't trust whatever the LLC formerly known as Reggies would hire for you, IF they would.

It's called a conflict counsel and it gets expensive and Reggies and the insurer will fight having to pay for it.

Yes, because dragging the Lyft driver through the mud again just makes him a great, standup guy.

It's just kind of necessary given the system.
I do think it's way overkill to name all those employees. Probably wasted almost a grand in filing fees for service on them.
This lawyer is trying to get headlines, though. More buzz will circulate about suing the extraneous parties than anything else.
