I will call BS. I have a Sam's Plus membership (subtle brag I know) and at the end of the year my membership is free due to cash back plus usually enough extra to pay for 6-8 steaks. They are paying me for my membership, and making their big profit off of markups like most businesses.

ol Touché. I don’t go there very often. Just would be nice to have employees who are a lil more helpful is all. If you’re working at a store you’d think knowing the area of where something is would be basic knowledge. Publix employees can look up an item in their phone and tell you where it is and how much is in stock. Don’t see why Costco couldn’t do something similar.
It is not Publix, which is considered a more full service grocery store. It is a self-service warehouse store where the workers are task specific. They keep the shelves stocked and the store clean. I personally have always had great customer service especially in the checkouts where they clear lines to the back of the store in amazing time.

My cash back will be through the roof at Costco this year. Been filling up all the cars there with my Costco Visa which gives 4% cashback on gas.

Meh, their prepared meals are pretty good and I like being able to buy shaving cream and razors once a year but I rarely actually grocery shop there.

I opened this thread expecting magician talk. I leave disappointed.
I’ll try to help relieve some of your disappointment with a personal story.
A female coworker (no pics) was flying into New Orleans and the man seated next to her looked a lot like famous magician Penn Jillette. She finally worked up the courage to talk to the celebrity and asked why he was going to New Orleans. The passenger said that he was going to a convention. My coworker sort of leaned over and, in a lowered voice asked if it was a magician’s convention. The guy looked at her like she was crazy and said no.
They did not talk for the rest of the flight.

Since Costco is a publicly traded company the financials are out there to see. Membership is their primary profit driver, margins cover business costs. Their margins on sales are lower than half of some place like Kroger. They are truly a volume business.

Publix is expensive though considering it is a grocery store.

Their milk is $4.20 a gallon for plain old Kirkland brand. Lidl has same shite for $1.40.
